Shopping Pet Hates

I have tried online shopping a couple of times, but I just can't get my head around it. I find it easier when I see what I'm buying.
I really wish online food shopping had been more prevalent when my DD was little - I'd have done it all the time.
Once you get used to it, its a doddle - so much easier than having kids with you doing an instore shop
. We have a Tesco click and collect store nearby for food shopping too, thats beyond easy! 0 -
The checkout person aiming for the world record in fastest scanning.... Then shoving it all the way down as I struggle to try and keep up. They still have to wait for me to catch up before I pay, so why not just calm down a little??

Because if your scan speed falls below a certain rate you get in trouble. Where I worked there was a reward board for fastest scanner0

People who stop dead in doorways oblivious to the fact that other people are trying to get in or out at the same time.
People who try to block the reduced shelf with their trolley. (I just move these out of the way now)
I've seen people rummage through fruit to select the best and then just hurl the unwanted ones back into the display and sometimes not even the same display it came from.
People who pick up something and then abandon it somewhere else in the store. I have seen a child's stair gate dumped in a freezer once. Now a stair gate won't just climb in your trolley by itself; YOU must have decided to pick it up so why dump in a freezer? :huh:0 -
I allow plenty of time whenever I go. Half the time, it's for work so I'm being paid to fight through the crowds and stand in long lines.
Only people who push in, those standing unnecessarily close, and those who gawk as you pay for your shopping annoy me. Some old guy stood behind me whistling really loudly (right down my hearing aid, thanks for that you ignorant peasant) . I guess he wanted me to turn round so I could see he only had two pints of milk and would invite him to go in front. Even though I only had three items myself. When his plan didn't work he pushed his way in front of me and turned round to tell me I was all right with it. I said of course, since he'd asked so nicely.
I love how quickly they get you through the tills at Aldi but it seems like common courtesy goes out of the window for the people queueing up. When they have such long conveyor belts & scan so quickly, you're not always going to be able to stand next to your stuff with your giant trolley so stop hitting me in the back with it to make me move forward 'til the end of the line0 -
I put my shopping on the belt in the order I want it scanned. Heavy things can then be packed in the bottom of the bag and the lighter ones on the top, so they don't get squashed and damaged. It seems to be policy that the assistants will never, ever scan them in order. So I'm packing and waiting for the tins to be scanned so I won't have to put them on top of my tomatoes. And get The Stare from the other shoppers because I've not finished my packing by the time I need to pay.
The other one is the shopper who has only one or two items, and thinks it's OK to ask to jump in. Actually, it's not, you can take your turn like everybody else. I was told I needed to be "a bit more humanistic"when refusing someone. I'm not fond of being lectured to at the best of times but especially not by illiterate a-holes.
I second the irritation at a month's food-shopping trip being used as a family day out. Toddler tantrums don't bother me at all, I just smile, walk on and thank my lucky stars that I'm not someone's Mum.0 -
Just did my shopping this morning. As I drove off 2 cars went for my space, neither were going to back down and as I was stuck in traffic to get out of the carpark I could still see them arguing. What was strange was there were at least 5 empty spaces close to mine. Perhaps my space had special mystical powers they knew about...
I'd be rather flattered. They must think the space is worth something because of you being in it!0 -

Oh yes, this, totally this..

It annoys me more, people abandoning stuff, when its frozen or refrigerated, its such a waste!0 -

Staff that don't understand the legal age for alcohol. The think 25 system is for the staff member to consider if someone looks over 25 and if not ID them.
I was asked if I was over 25, to which I said no I'm 24, and then he said, "Okay, as you're not over 25 I need some ID." !!!!!!?!
My pet hate is sort of the opposite.
When I buy alcohol at the self checkout and the 20 year old employee comes over, takes one look at me and presses 'Customer is obviously over 25'. Cheers for that!0
