I asked my OH to stop into the supermarket to get 2 chicken fillets, some veg and a few other things. Total cost £10 max.
He came home and had spent £70 (inc 2xCD’s, 1xDVD and other junk)!

Then I found out he had forgotten to get the leeks I asked for, that I needed to make some soup that evening, so he went back out to the Tesco Express and spent another £9 (beer and chocolate)!

I think we will be doing the shopping online from now on……….

I hate it when a parent is shopping with their kid and the kid is eating a chocolate bar/packet of crisps or drinking something that they've picked up off of the shelf and haven't paid for yet and then they go and pay for the empty packet/container at the till. Sometimes I have also seen a fat woman walking around eating something when shopping alone.

    HATE IT.

Staff that don't understand the legal age for alcohol.

At least the nonsense of stopping people from buying alcohol if they have a child with them, on the grounds that they might be illegally buying alcohol on behalf of the child, has pretty much stopped. That was absolutely ludicrous.

Staff that don't understand the legal age for alcohol. The think 25 system is for the staff member to consider if someone looks over 25 and if not ID them.

I was asked if I was over 25, to which I said no I'm 24, and then he said, "Okay, as you're not over 25 I need some ID." !!!!!!?!

    Thats the whole point!
In some supermarkets staff need to ID Anyone who looks under 25.
They can't just rely on your say so, customers do tell porkies, especially underage ones.

Couples who both go to busy supermarkets with their children - why?

So they can help me carry it all up the road. I couldn't possibly carry it all on my own and it's too short a journey to justify a taxi.
They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.

... and then they realise they've got a billion money off vouchers so they start shuffling through those too.

I don't mind that, what bugs me is when you see mothers give their children something like a packet of crisps then just dump the packet after they are done so they don't have to pay for it

I suspect you have seen some thin women doing it as well (and men too), but I guess that's not such a funny anecdote ;).

I am guilty of this - the feeding my son, not the fat woman part :o . I don't do it all the time, or even most of the time, a few times at most. Last week for instance, I forgot my two years olds drink. It was hot, he was thirsty and rather than drag a thirsty, miserable toddler around Sainsbury's, I gave him a carton of juice. And yes I suppose I could have queued up twice, to pay for the drink and then pay for my shopping, but the supermrkets don't mind - as long as you do pay for it - so why should you?

As for leaving the kids at home. I tend to shop online because a triple buggy in Sainsbury's, or a double buggy and a wandering toddler is no fun for anybody, but sometimes it's necessary. The last person who was stupid enough to tut and mutter that I should have left my kids at home, got an earful.

Usually the older generation who like to stand and tut when your child has a rare tantrum at the checkout, making you feel like the worst parent ever.

When you are standing near the front of the line in a long queue and an assistant opens up the till next to you and everyone at the back of the line gets in first.
