May as well through my tuppence worth in here, recently had lunch at Timber Quay in Londonderry/ Derry/ Stroke City ;) with the OH, sister and 3 kids. Food was excellent, service prompt and polite, decor and surroundings 1st class and it all came to £40 :T :T :T Can't beat that with a big stick;)

Last time I was in the big smoke I ate at Villa Italia, I think thats what its called, opposite Queens anyway, on the recommendation of a friend from Lurgan. Again food, decor, service and atmosphere very nice indeed and reasonably priced too :T :T :T
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:
  • Had a nice meal with the kids last week at the Windrose in Carrickfergus.
  • Hi mentioned Ed's Diner in Lisburn in a previous post, and have been again with my lovely daughter last week, and we had delicious food, and excellent service. The staff there are so nice and friendly and the decor is great too. They play 60's music(rock and roll etc .) but it is not too loud. I would recommend it highly. Good value for money too. We would also recommend Villa Italia too very much. Great food great service and always busy. I have seen people queing outside the doors to get in :)

  • for the outta towners, cafe rossi in ballynahinch is a lovely restaurant, its byo and its so big that even when its full u dont feel crowded in. nce food, excellent staff and my 2 yr old son is always well catered for, being a picky eater. another place which i love but dont often go to 'cos u sometimes have to queue to get in is AJ's diner in crossgar. great food but can be crowded at times especially with the children and high chairs. but get it at the rite time and it can be quite nice to sit upstairs and watch all go by.
"it's better than a poke in the eye with a pointy stick" - my dad, regularly throughout my childhood when I complained about something being too small/not perfect/not tasty/not what I wanted. he was right every time. :D
  • I was down in Derry this weekend and we had a meal in The Gallery, a 3 course sunday lunch for 9.99, it was really nice and the portions a good size too. I live in Ballymena and the restaurants here are s**t

  • Legends on the Lisburn road in belfast is always worth a visit. Meet up with friends there 3 or 4 times a year is always busy has a nice feel to it , staff seem to stay and food is great. It is also bring your own but thier licence doesnt cover you bringing spiriits but there is no problems with beer or wine. I always find it very reasonable and the corkage is pretty reasonable too I think the last time I was there we had 8 bottles of wine opened for us and if I recall corrrectly ( remember ^ bottles of wine:)))) they charged 6 or 7 quid. Its not the smartest fashion most concious restaurant you can go to but it does what it says on the tin. Good food cheap prices lots of repeat customers.

I had Christmas lunch in the King's Head today at Balmoral. I had a first class rib-eye steak, though the starter wasn't great.
