A good place to eat in with the children is Ed's Diner facing Quinceys in Lisburn where the Omniplex is? My daughter hubby and their friends went with their 2 wee ones and they were able to enjoy a meal and there is a little area where the children can watch a d.v.d. and eat their meal. She said it is really nice there. I used to like Quinceys myself but i find it is too noisy so we don't go there now. The Tidy Doffer is lovely and the food and service is great too, with or without childrenDo a little kindness every day.;)0

Go up the Dublin road passed the Movie house on the left, stay in the left hand side lane and follow the road up passed the lights and this will lead you to the resturant that is talked about. There are a lot of nice wee eating places on this road - I love Maggie Mays you get a good fry served all day.
If you follow the road on up and turn right at the lights this will bring you onto University Street.

Springsteens in Carrick is excellent, also Darcys at Shaftesbury Square in Belfast is very good, great steaks and the combi starter is excellent.Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0

Dublin road is one of the main streets in Belfast. It's adjacent to the university area (leads to it from city centre) and has a lot of bars and restaurants. University st is just beside Queen's University Belfast. Either this or the Cathedral quarter are the best place for something to eat in Belfast.
BTW I used to really like Taps in the Cathedral Quarter but I think they might have changed chefs recentlyAnd as for deanes, it has taken a real nose dive. Deanes at Queen's service was terrible the last time I was there (when the only customers in the place have to stand up and wave to get notice there's something really really wrong!). Even Deanes Deli which I used to love has taken a major nosedive. I think Belfast needs to seriously up its game again personally....though it is good for the pocket that there are so few good choices...

Ratz, in Bangor is a really great place to go for a meal. They have a 'bistro' menu for early evening which is good and very reasonably priced, but if you go later the 'a la carte' menu is so much better and well worth the extra couple of pounds. I've been a few times over the summer and the food and service has always been fabulous. The rack of lamb is to die for!
