Thank you Hypno, don't feel quite so ashamed now *phew*
No, our debt hasn't increased at all and I have transferred money from MB to the joint account to cover this weekend. DH has suggested that we keep the MB in a separate account and use it for our fun/family activities and maybe he is right, after all, our other money goes towards the debt.
I do think we would have approached this differently 6 months ago, slap up expensive meal, £30 on a taxi, fortune on drinks but we were quite restrained.
As for the beer cups (aka !!!!pots!) I had gone prepared with hat and coat thank god but the girl in front of me was not so fortunate :rotfl:0 -
I think to use the MB money as "treat" money is a great idea. Life should not be about being miserable just because you owe money. I'm being good and updating diary now
Had a lovely day today as it was DS's birthday so I spent the day "working from home" when in fact we did fun things. Aside from when DS was having a nap me and DD did a massive flylady blitz on the house - cleaned windows, mopped floors, hoovered etc etc. We had a timer for every 15 mins to get it done and then sit down for 5 mins to do a bit of a jigsaw and then back off again. DD said that she loved it and could we do it again :rotfl:
So now I have subscribed to flylady for a task everyday and DH has (albeit reluctantly) jumped on board. Just felt exhausted this week, as if all I do is work, kids, debt avoidance, money saving and tidy up but never really achieve anything. Wanted more relaxing times and fun like this weekend so will try and be more organised housewise.
DH starts new job on Monday and I am home alone with 2 children whilst attempting to work full time, cook, clean    Of course being DFW, the plus side is that I can spend less on food as he is away and watch TV all to myself.
Have also sat down and done all my finances tonight - lovely end of month figure. DH had run up £90 on an old CC and also "forgot" to cancel some CC insurance which cost us £45  so slightly annoyed but I am trying hard to forgive him. Will update signatures later but have not added to debt this month and not used CC at all :j :j :j
My little guilt trip is that we are off on hols in a few weeks for a pre-booked 2 week holiday which I desperately desperately want. Seriously considered cancelling it at LBM but we stood to lose too much money, but we have been fortunate in that DH was paid holiday pay and this will be our holiday money.
So all in all I have been able to overpay the CC debt by about £95 so far this month and we also expect some more travelling expenses from DH which I haven't accounted for and so hopefully can pay more off the sum.
I did read someone's post who said that as soon as they get paid from amazon etc they pay it off the debt and I have decided to do this as well, received £5 today from Amazon and it has been split between Barclaycard and Halifax. Every little helps so they say..............
So I am organised and still here 6 weeks later and less debt :T :T Off to eat birthday cake now0 -

Use the over timer, it was lots of fun doing things as quickly as we could!
Our plan is that we will split the jobs between me and DH and DD wants a job too (25p per job :rotfl: ) so we have negotiated a deal with her. I will email the list in the morning and DH will dish them out accordingly - bet I get the cleaning oven, change sheets, wash windows
We shall see how long this lasts, and do you know for the first time today, I aired the bed :T :T :T DH has pointed out however that I have spent the last 10 years nagging him to make the bed and now I want him to unmake it :rotfl:
Off to bed now, work in the morning and I am absolutely jiggered!
*speak* soon0 -
Hi BAUK, you sound as though you had a really good day yesterday! My house has a long way to go before I can consider it tidy, but we are going to work on the "baby steps" approach. I am fairly sure that if my house was tidy, I would be far less stressed, and more able to concentrate on the other debt stuff much easier.
Having said that though, me and the two children are currently sitting on the sofa in our PJs - not much in the way of activity going on in the hypno house just yet!!
Hope you have a good day xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hi BAUK just caught up on your thread, wow it tires me out just reading it! You are doing really really well hun - keep it up. You deserve the holiday I think so make sure you enjoy it and DO NOT feel guilty ok! You will come back refreshed, revived and ready for even more debt-busting!

I wish I was sat at home in my pj's - I am instead sat opposite a moaning colleague moaning about his gf (and I think he is completely in the wrong) so I just keep nodding at him
Well I was up at 6 this morning, DS wandered in at 5.30am  and by 6am was crying that "Mummy you're lazy please get up". So up I got, checked the flylady thread (how sad am I :rotfl: ) shined my sink, finished defrosting my freezer which looks so beautiful I don't want to put any food in it, grabbed some kitchen roll and window cleaner and did a once over on the bathroom, put the washing on and out to dry and packed my lunch. DH came down and asked if I had taken drugs :rotfl:
So DH and DD have their jobs - DD is most excited about her job of purchasing and using a feather duster and DH is not pleased about having to clean the stair rails and the light sockets - shame
Going to have a NSD today as well, spending diary is back out in force, took £60 out last night which are our spends for week for everything apart from food and petrol - and me and DH have both put our debit cards in the drawer so we are not tempted to spend. Hoping to save as much of the £60 as possible to buy sun cream and other essentials.
Am not going to feel guilty about the holiday, have definately had a burn out in the last 2 months and know that this is the last holiday abroad we will be having until we are debt free so intend to make the most of it0 -
stair rails and light sockets:eek: whatever drugs you've taken blackangel I want some!
I got up at 6.15 and since then have been sitting at my desk not getting a great deal done. Well I did cook a full English breakfast for three of the kids (most unusual request)
I need to get to grips with the housework thing. Blackangel are you really doing it from the OS flylady thread? Perhaps I need to take another look. How much time do you spend each day doing housework?
You enjoy that holiday blackangel and don't feel a twinge of guilt. But are you sure you haven't got some old bottles of sun cream somewhere?Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620
