Have still got a few things to do by the end of this week, the weather has been too nice for me to consider being couped up in the house though

So by Sunday I hope to have:-

    - cleared out my wardrobe of stuff to be sold on ebay
    - ring up re life insurance
    - clean 3 wheeler jogger pram and put on ebay
    - put kids toys on ebay (whilst they aren't looking!)
    - put 2 pairs of my jeans on ebay

Have been a little downhearted at times this week, spent £8.57 unnecessarily, all of it on food/snacks but apart from that our total spend so far this week is £35.77 so we are well within our budget and no real plans to do much this weekend either. I have also saved £20 this month by self waxing :j

Have had moments when I didn't want to write in my spending diary, particularly when things were going wrong this week, but I did write in it in the end and didn't feel quite as bad afterwards.

Also think I have the hang of Matched Betting. Decided to let DH get involved, however when he started giving me monopoly money and saying "pretend you are betfair" I knew I should have done it alone :rotfl:

I've also got three people watching some clothes I put on and there is already a bid :j

Am cooped up in the house permanentos at the mo is driving m bonkers! Do you think i could justify £30 on a picnic table to sit in the garden!

Sorry to hear you've been a bit down lately BA. I think you had such a massive burst of energy at the beginning that you've worn your battery flat a tad. But look what you've acheived in the short couple of weeks since you started this process.
    1) saved £20 on waxing:j
    2) Come in each week within your budget:T
    3) probably got a much emptier house and tidier childrens bedrooms due to amount of ebaying you've been doing!!:D
    4) got to grips with matched betting and on your way to earnin some good profit there:rotfl:
5)negotiated on your credit cards..... Need i go on!!!!

So whenever your feeling down, just for a second look over your shoulder and see the road behind you and how far away you've left that big nasty brick wall standing.
(PS slap my wrist if you like but i've still not got round to a spending diary. may wreck my second no spend day and go purchase a nice flowery one! so good for you for doing one!)

    Have a good day....
    P

Am so excited I had to post.

DH was called back for his 3rd interview for a job yesterday. They told him they would contact him with an offer next week - he has been headhunted - clever man :D

He has been told the package will be between £5k - £7k more than he is on now, plus £500 car allowance, plus a pension. Prior to LMB I would have done the following on receipt of this news:-

    (a) decided to consolidate everything based on the fact we can now afford the repayments
    (b) having consolidated, I would most probably have kept at least one CC and the cycle would start all over again
    (c) would have decided despite having two perfectly adequate and realiable cars, and despite fact that car allowance doesn't have to be used for a car, to buy one anyhow

But after LBM we have sat down and made the following decisions:-
We don't know yet the final offer so can't work out tax, net pay etc, but whatever happens we will be using the £500 car allowance to pay the debts, in addition to the £500 we already put towards it. When we can work out how much extra we have every month, we will then put as much as possible towards the debt as we can. We are going to continue in our frugal(ish) lifestyle and not use the financial opportunity as a reason to put the debt on the back burner.

Added to this we will have an extra £110 to throw at debts in September when childcare costs decrease, then in Sept 08 they disappear completely and we will have a further £400 to put to debts, so by next Sept we could be paying a massive £1600 off the debts per month :j

My preliminary figure from snowball calculator is August 2009 for our debt free day but I am going to try bloody hard to get it even sooner :j

I have sold loads of ebay to pay for birthdays this month, and have also raised £165 for 12 months car tax from ebay - I have never paid it in full for a whole year ever before :D

I am struggling a bit on the food budget and have spent £300 so far this month instead of the budgeted £240 so I really need some help on that one as I have another food shop before the end of the month.

So that's my update really, I know that without this site I would not have this self restraint and would have just spent the extra income without a thought. So thank you everyone who has helped me so far :T

I am honestly now looking ahead at 2 years when I can overpay my mortgage by £1500 a month and get debt free sooner, 6 weeks ago this would not have even been possible.

Thank you - all the advice that encouraged me along I think has probably saved my marriage

    :hello: Hypno

I am fine, not been able to post on board as much due to work  and also finding being DFW hard at times. Think it would help to post on my diary more to keep me inspired though...

I have had a fab weekend however, pre LBM I bought tickets for DH to see Arctic Monkeys for his birthday and we planned a "treat ourselves" weekend for both our birthdays and wedding anniversary. Kids were packed off to parents for the weekend, we went out for an Indian on Friday night, on Saturday went into Manchester and had lunch and a few drinks. Very DFW (ish)-style, I borrowed my boss' hi-life card and we had a posh meal for two for half the price, as we only had to pay for one persons 3 course meal :T . Then went to see Arctic Monkeys who were unbelievable. The queue for the beer was about 2 hours, so inadvertently we spent nothing there as we couldn't be bothered to queue. Then we were going to get a taxi home but DH remembered his DFW pledge and we legged it for the train instead. Due to the efficiency of BR we didn't pay for our journey to or from Manchester either :T

Returned home, lie in and then frantic run around for (belated and early) joint birthday party for DD and DS for family, so slight overspend at Tescos......but busy birthday period is now over.

So we have been slightly frivolous this weekend, however we are firmly back on the ground, and I still feel we were sensible over certain things, (taxi etc). I do feel guilty that we have indulged this weekend however it is all from my Matched Betting winnings.

I read a post the other day about not being DFW 100% and you have to have some fun and so I am trying not to beat myself up about it. Teeny bit of me keeps thinking I should have paid the debts instead of drinking it but we did have a fantastic time and it was lovely to spend some time alone.

The only bad point of this weekend was the fact that other Arctic Monkey goers decided to use their beer cups as urinals..............and then lobbed them into the crowd

With the exception of the beer cups    the weekend sounds absolutely fab! And if you paid for it out of matched betting money, then it was basically free :j :j :j

What you have to remember, and be proud of, is that you made efforts throughout to minimise the expenditure without ruining your enjoyment - taking the train not a taxi, having a BOGOF meal etc.

So stop this nonsense about being frivilous right now! Pre LBM the whole weekend would have been a whole lot more expensive and certainly more harmful to the pocket. As it is, your debt has not increased has it?
