I have 2 Halifax current accounts but only one of them was/is a Reward one.

I got the May £5 based on the old rules (£1000in April), so I hope this is a glitch that will be fixed automatically.. certainly it seems against their own T&C.

Just need to ensure my direct debits are properly set-up/paid before raising this as an issue but their IT has always been a bit poor (not displaying Clarity Reward cc's with their correct name etc)

    Regards
    Sunil

It's not a glitch. Any accounts that didn't have 2 dds set up by 14th April will be downgraded to a standard current account over the next few days.

You have clearly not read the posts and have just jumped in with both feet.

    I'll repeat for your benefit:
my Rewards Account appears to have been downgraded too, however I had two direct debits set up before 14th April

Doing so would be contrary to their T+Cs which state 2 months notice will be given before the account is downgraded.

    1. Halifax Reward Current Account Special Conditions
To have a Reward Current Account you must set up a minimum of
two different direct debit mandates on the account.
We may review your account from time to time. If we find that you do not have
at least two different direct debits set up on your Reward Current Account,
we may change your account to a Current Account or similar. Where we do
this, we will give you at least two months’ notice.

The new rules come into effect on 1st May, which means you need to have two PAID direct debits in April to get £5 on 1st May. If the DDs come out in May, you can re-apply for the reward account once the DDs have been paid. However, if you previously had more than one reward, you can only re-apply for one of them.

(Mine are still Reward accounts, but I setup the DDs when I got the letter in March)

This is the best synopsis of the state of play

Jumped in because I work for Halifax. Got update yesterday stating any accounts that didnt have 2 DDs set up by 14th April will be changed to a current account over the next few days.

£5 reward paid yesterday for April was based on old rules.

I believe they are going to enforce the 1 sole account rule stringently over the next couple of months

They must be snowed under at the moment with people removing all actions on the 2nd downgraded Reward Account

Perhaps they could introduce some Vantage style accounts 3% on 5k x 3 accounts to redeem themselves

Surely the notice was given when they wrote to all account holders at least 2 months ago? People were told of the downgrading, and of what they could do to avoid it.

They've been telling people of these changes since at least the start of the year so I think they're covered.

If you want that, BoS offer it and Halifax will show it when you login.

However, it's been said that BoS will have the same requirement as Halifax (2 DDs per account) before the end of the year.
