I've just checked my credit card statement and the money has been refunded to me as well, even though I had a communication from them stating that delivery would be by 16th June. I think it is disgusting that they took the money on 20th May and kept it until 11th June. They must have known earlier that they would not be able to supply this duvet, so why weren't they honest about it.

Is anyone going to write/email the CEO and complain? Perhaps if we did it on mass we might get a result!

    Certainly not impressed.

I have already done so, not been opened by them yet,( have a tag on e-mails so know if they get opened), nor have they been bounced back, although they could have been deleted without opening, will try again tomorrow if no response, failing that will send by post.

I'm willing to send an email (as the first course of action) if somebody could supply a contact address please. I was messed around by this lot in the past so now I'm ready to make a nuisance of myself!

This is what I've just "cobbled" together
I did borrow .....ahem..... a bit fom prevoius post :o

    Dear Debenhams,

I Have noticed that today a refund of £16.80 was refunded to my bank account, which I presume is for the above mentioned order. As I have not had any correspondence from your company confirming this I am forced to make my own assumptions.
Surely a letter of apology or explanation is not only good manners but also good customer service!
This is my first time shopping with your company and to say I am disappointed is an understatement. You must be the only company who actually removes money from the clients account BEFORE the item is dispatched. I placed my order on the 21st May, money was removed from my account on the 23rd May and I received confirmation for my order along with assurance that my goods would be sent within 5-7 working days.
However on the 2nd June I received a letter which clearly states that it acts as an invoice and that I can expect delivery of my goods by 16th June 2007.
I am not satisfied and would like this issue to be re-addressed.
Surely you cannot just remove money from somebody's bank account, hold onto it for 3-4 weeks and simply refund it without any explanation.
I do not believe this is an isolated incident and would appreciate your views upon the following,

On closer inspection of your own T&C's it clearly states:

,"2.3 We take payment from your card at the time we despatch your order, once we have checked your card details.

I have spoken to Consumer Direct and they have advised me that I have to abide by your T&Cs on the website, but as the letter states it is an invoice and you took the money the day after the online order, Cosumer Direct tend to agree that it is a breach of contract.

    Yours Truly

I don't know if this willget me anywhere but I feel angry that they took my money for so long:mad:

    Regards

Which email address did you use? The CEO himself or the other one?

Think I'll give it a go as I am really fed up. And this on top of not receiving my cheap trainers from La Redoute - what is the world coming to!!!!!

Debenhams is probably the worst online retailer there is out there.

item is 'in stock' online > place order > payment taken > recieve confirmation email online > ring customers services who assure delivery will be direct from suppliers within next 3 weeks > recieve confirmation letter in post to say product will be delivered on a certain date > bank account gets credited with amount > recieve letter to say product was not available etc because blah blah blah

this has happend to me twice

first with some pillows and now with this duvet thing!

i think its time to write to the ceo and give him/her a battering

I've also been refunded and I'm fuming! I spent £40 on a new King Size duvet cover specially to go on my new duvet (currently only have doubles) - and to add insult to injury, where did I buy it from?? Blummin Debenhams

I'm definitely going to be doing some complaining. Thank you Sparkleworld for your suggested wording.
