Just got an email from Nook uk. Apparently the nook I ordered from them, that was dispatched/cancelled is now being dispatched. I have tried to cancel it already a week ago.
Now if my very order would just get dispatched ..

so my cover, clip on light, screen protector and memory card have all arrived!!!

    however, no nook :(

I ordered it from the Nook website on 2 May, and finally got an email yesterday saying it should arrive by 17 May. That seems to be when a lot of them will be back in stock at Currys/Argos/Asda, so may a production order is just being finalized?

at least when it eventually arrives, I'll be all prepared!!!

Has anyone here successfully managed to root their nook? I've never rooted anything, and I'm curious to see if the instructions posted previously in the thread actually work?

Thanks all, have ordered from asda with a dispatch date of 16th may. Will be perfect for my daughter for her 9th birthday, she already has a kindle fire but doesn't really read on it just uses it for apps so this will be ideal for reading in bed and taking out and about :j

I have an original kindle and love it but didn't fancy paying full price for dd

Did you order from play.com? That was fast, if it was the seller in the USA. I'm still waiting on mine

I'm a bit tempted to root my Nook, if I could only find my SD/microSD adaptor

Ordered one from Currys on Monday, and another on Weds. The Monday order should have been dispatched from yesterdays's stock replenishment, yet I still have no joy. On the other hand, stocks in store seem to have been replenished for those click and collect orders if I have been following this thread correctly. I wonder what's going on?

I was starting to feel reassured when I read someone's post a couple of pages back about currys not expecting to have to cancel any orders, but now I'm starting to believe that it was a bunch of twaddle. I've had no communication from them after I received the initial order confirmation and a bogstandard dispatch e-mail (which I'm sure was intended to mean that they were dispatching the policy information, not the product). Bah humbug :D.

They've definitely put the price back up on their site now, probably an attempt to stave off any more orders!

ringo - I got the clip on light, screen protector and cover as a bundle from someone on ebay for about £5. I got memory card, with adapter, from someone on Amazon.

The memory card came last week, and the clip on light etc came today. I think it came from the US? The original estimated delivery date was between 20 May and 6 June. I was all prepared to go to Sainsburys this weekend and get a pretty cover too, but I guess I dont have to now... :o

I also ordered one from Currys last week and got a delivery notice that implied delivery yesterday - but no sign. Have tried calling them but that was a waste of time. Not sure what next, wonder what I do if it doesn't appear?

I have rooted it, its very easy once you realise that you need to switch OFF the nook, (Hold the power button for 3 sec if at the home screen/15 otherwise) it will then boot the root s/w off the sdcard and you just follow the instructions. Make a BACKUP FIRST though then if you need to you can recover it.
It took me a while as I didn't realise the power button was on the back, or how to switch it off :(
Once rooted you can mess about with installing stuff on it.

  • Quick question the product info on most places mentions 2gb memory but on both mine and OH's nook we only have 250mb ish each. Am I missing something or is it that it will take up to 2gb memory??

    Any help appreciated :)
