3 Nooks sitting waiting for me when I came home from work today, then opened my emails to find a message from Nook telling me that my order had been cancelled! I wish they'd at least check their bloomin records!
Anyhow, all the Nooks I have gotten have been taken by family and friends, so thankfully I won't have to return these to the Netherlands!
I've got to say though, I was very disappointed with the packaging for them from Nook. In a not-so-padded envelope! At least PC World packaged theirs adequately!!Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -

I treated myself to the glowlight, most of my kindle reading was done at night and my M Edge light was useful, but always needing batteries.
I prefer the nook for the following reasons.
1. Screensavers are customisable. On kindle to install my own screensavers I had to 'jailbreak' it. Screensavers on nook are as simple as creating a new folder within the screensaver folder and filling it with my favourite 600x800 jpg images.
2. Clocks! One thing the kindle sorely lacked was a clock. When reading on a nook just press the 'n' button to get the menu up and there in the top left hand corner is a clock!
3. Battery. Nook has a lovely little function where you can go into settings and get an accurate percentage of how much battery is left. No more guessing how long from the little kindle icon.
4. Bookshelves. I'm a visual person and being able to scroll through my book covers rather than the epically long list of titles on the kindle is bliss.
My daughter (also a kindle owner) spent ten minutes flicking about on my nook and promptly ordered herself one of the £29 ones. She also prefers the functionality as well as the tactility of the nook.0 -

I just read a good tip - search the nook store for 0.00 and you'll find all the free books:

Also forgot to add, I registered with the USA B&N site as well as the uk one
. I found a few books I was looking for weren't available on the UK site and a few that were a lot cheaper (99 cents vs £4). You need to invent an address, but from what I've read B&N don't send out mailings anyway so the address is a formality.

Just as well I can remember the address of the holiday villa we used in Florida years ago.
Thanks for the tip.Herman - MP for all!0 -

You're right, a Nook won't smell of damp paper ever. Or turn yellow
No the reader is destroyed. The books are safe on your PC/accounts0 -
