Currys - the first one we ordered! Ordered on 7th May, I think, and JUST delivered TODAY! Madness. We ordered the three year guarantee, so paid £39.99, but this guarantee covers faults AND accidental damage, so figured it was the best one?

What have other people found re guarantees and which works best? We're getting overwhelmed! lol!

Hi, sorry to say this seem to be confusing Insurance with a Gurantee. I normally wouldnt correct someone, but you seem frustrated and said yiu are overwhealmed.

The Gurantee comes from the makers and 'gurantees' you against manufacturing defects. On the other hand insurance pays out (hopefully) if you accidentally damage it, and many companies will cover such devices, it might even be already be covered in your home insurance.

Eg, the makers Gurantee means a car manufacturer will fix a system wide defect such as faulty switch somewhere, whereas if you drive into a tree you phone your insurance company. Hope that helps.

This site seems a pretty good one for getting free ebooks - seems legit and not pirate to me - but what do I know about these things?!

    http://tuebl.ca/

Anyone downloaded ebooks from this site?

I've downloaded a couple but am not sure if they are complete books. I'd hate to get to the end and find it was only the first half of it.

    Jbro,
My daughter downloaded her first 20 free books onto her Nook yesterday. Mostly classics likely to be out of copyright and oddball things (cookery, phrase book etc). They all appear to be complete.

There were also lots of free "samplers" of very contemporary books on the site - obviously intended to encourage you to "try and buy"- pretty good idea, and saves you paying for something you don't know and might not like, but you won't get the full book on those ones. Is that what you were wondering?

If you're ordering with Very they will deliver.....but it'll take a while. Mine got pushed back to 31 May and they delivered on that day.

On cases, I made one for mine out of a old silk dressing gown with the panels strengthened internally with cardboard. It's an envelope style and works really well. I did this with the JL Mini sewing machine bought when they had an offer posted up here. So very MSE style. Very pleased, wonky sewing but cost nothing so if you're handy with a machine, worth a go.

Did she download them from the 'tuebl.ca' site?

I have downloaded many free books from other sites with no real issues - including some sample chapters etc.

Yesterday I downloaded some epub format books from this particular site (e.g. the Hunger Games) and the books seem to have too few pages. I've had to read the last page to see it they seem to be the correct last page - and they don't appear to be. It will be sooooo frustrating to read half a book and then not be able to read the rest.

I was just wondering if anyone else had had the same problem.

    jbro,
no she ordered them off the Free Books section of the Nook/Barnes and Noble UK site:

    http://www.barnesandnoble.com/u/Free-eBooks/379003078/

Some of the books on offer are "previews" which don't give you the full book but she ordered only complete books.

Thanks. It's ones from that other site that I was having the concerns about.

Does it actually make it clear if it is a full book or just a preview? It seems to be a pretty good selection.

EDIT: Have just had a really good look and can now see that it does say preview on a lot of them.
