It is NOT a fine nor offence - and why no new thread yet? Did you have no questions after reading the 'Private Parting ticket? Newbies read this first!' sticky thread at the top of the forum? If so then that's good, but just checking you have found your way around the forum because you will win at POPLA appeal stage with our wording...but you would lose with your wording in bold. You need to wait for the Notice to Keeper to arrive in the post, in most cases, then appeal as KEEPER not driver.

See my signature below (not the red words) for where to click - just ONE click - to get to page one of this parking ticket forum where you will see the 'Newbies' thread near the top in seconds! Please don't just start a new thread until you have read the sticky threads, such as the 'Newbies' one and the 'Successful Complaints about PPCs' sticky thread too (which you should be doing to the Store Manager of Matalan right now and I am amazed you didn't march straight in there again when you saw the stupid fake PCN!).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD
  • I've received a PCN from Smart Parking at Matalan for £85 (discounted to £50) for a 25 minute overstay. I've appealed to Smart Parking and lost. I don't have any grounds for the appeal, within their rules they are entitled to issue the PCN so I don't think there is any point in appealing to POPLA. I'm just very annoyed at such an unfair and unjust charge and want to kick up a fuss. I'm about to write to the Matalan store manager and the Matalan managing director to point out that they won't be getting any more of my business. I reckon that if enough people did the same they would think seriously about whether they want to continue with Smart Parking and the issuing of such PCNs.

    Any comments ?

Please start your own thread - Hijacking someone else's is very bad form.

Also, what actually happened means very little to a PPC - POPLA challenges are more usually based on wider issues, so get stuck into the Newbies Sticky at the top of the forum to see how to really see them off.

Then start your own thread for more detailed help/advice!

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

    Goodbye.

Sorry you feel like that, the problem is that this is a very busy forum with posts all over the place and to avoid duplications, it is best to start a new thread. It is easy, scroll up to the top of this page and you will see FORUM JUMP, it should already show "parking tickets, fines" just click and it will bring you to the main forum. Then above all the threads there is a blue button on the left to start a new thread, click on that and away you go.

Your first complaint must be to the CEO of Matalan, not the store manager as the power they have is zero
Simply google " ceo email of matalan" up pops the info

If you are a regular shopper at Matalan, you have a card.
That will tell the CEO how much you spend and hopefully he will want you to be a customer. If he just states there is nothing he can do, he is lying and would you deal with a company who lies to you. YES, everyone should tackle the CEO, it will get to the point that all CEO'S will be tearing their hair out, they let these donkeys in so they can get rid of the donkeys, that is of course if they want the public to shop with them. This applies to every retail outlet whether it is a solo car park or a retail park.
