FREE SKy+ and installation + no monthly charge

It matters to me, the original post said " Free Sky+ " not free in comparison to what subscribers used to pay before.
I want to buy a used Sky+ Receiver outright, and use it's recording facilities without coughing up to Sky.
As you rightly say, I pay a licence fee to watch the free stuff, so I don't want to pay twice.
Sky+ box and installation is free. Sky+ is free when you subscribe to any SKY package. Therefore Sky+ is free
Sky isn't free unless you have freesat - in which case you still have to pay fro the sky dish and the minimum contractual period.
Why do people insist on filling up threads with useless tit for tat arguments? Please people, do us a favour and get a grip.

so are you still paying 49.00 for the box or are you getting it free
thanks jane
Hi Jane - just to clarify. No I am not paying the £49 for a new Sky plus box. I was offered it for £49 but I said I really didn't want to spend any more money. I paused enough for him to fill the silence with the free refurbished box. So NO charge for the box - NO charge for installation - and NO extra £10 monthly fee. I already pay £18 per month for 4 mixes and have been with Sky since 2002 so not under contract.
I think the trick with this offer is to ask to cancel but when they ask for a reason, say that you keep missing your favourite programmes due to work/other commitments. This leads nicely to their offer of Sky+ as it records all the things you're missing!
Hope this helps.0 -

My sitting room (where the sky is) has a laminate floor that we have only just installed! I said I didn't want a rotten telephone wire all round my sitting room (I've ripped out the original one) and they said I had to have it so they could update the software, so I told them to cancel it. I'm going to buy a dvd recorder instead!
When I first has Sky installed they said I had to keep the Sky pugged in to a phone socket. It was something to do with the contract. Like you I have a wooden floor and was not going to rip it up for anyone. They used the phone line - then after they left I removed it and did not use it again! I think it is something to do with being able to use the interactive stuff and that Sky get paid for everyone that uses it. All rubbish of course. You do however still need the phone line if you order from Sky box office.0 -

Yep they do say you must have a phone line connected. but I remvoved it when they left as well. Havent had any problems not using the phone line and Ive been with Sky for over a year.
As above its only for their interactive stuff or I think if your ordering sky box offiice items.0 -

Well at least get your facts right if you are going to join in, Freesat is a one off payment, no contract.
Of course a lot of people just get an ex SkySub Card from eBay that works as a Freesat Card for a tenner or so.
Dishes are about a fiver from the same place.;)
Anyway, as long as all of you people are content to give Sky a tenner a month for your so called " Free " Sky+ usage, so be it.
Perhaps the OP may consider the wording of his/her post next time, very misleading. :rolleyes:0 -

Not good advice, Sky can and do send letters out to people that breach their T&C's in this way.0 -
Hi Steve,
I managed to get the deal - Free Sky+ Box for a 6 months contract on my existing package (£15 per month).
But i didn't check with them, if i want to cancel during these 6 months, what are terms and conditions?
And also, could u pls explain what does it mean not compatible with sky any time?
Thanks,
Syan
They told me that if I cancelled my sky package the sky+ would still have to run its contract and I would then have to pay the £10 per month.
Sky anytime is sky's new sky on demand service where they download the film or program to your hard drive and you can watch it whenever you want and as many times as you want.
SteveWaddle you do eh?0 -

Have to agree with you on this one, it should read:
'Sky+ Free as long as you subscribe to any Sky Package'.
If you have freesat you still pay the £10 for the Sky+ facility so it's not free. (If you are going to do this, it might make more sense to subscribe to Sky get the 2mixes for £15).
Hope that makes sense.0 -
Not good advice, Sky can and do send letters out to people that breach their T&C's in this way.
They send out letters if you have multiroom - they check both boxes are connected frequently to stop you and a mate going halfs on a cheap subscription. If you refuse to connect they start billing you for two subs.
Policy on single boxes is that you must have a phone line at time of activation/pairing and for the first 12 months - however, it very rare that they check after the initial activation and if they do it is about 3 letter down the line before they introduce a penalty charge.0 -
Woo bloomin Hoo !!!! :j :j :j
Thank you sooo much to the OP. we have wanted this for months but our budget didnt allow it and its going to make a big difference to our family !!
To those that are arguing over whether its 'free' or not, surely you should just read the first post and see if you would benefit, if not click the little X and read the next offer. Pointless nit-picking will only prevent other people from posting about great offers in fear of being hassled for it!
Thanks again to all,
Mishka
PS I got free instalation, free box (no mention of refurb) no extra cost per month. after ringing the 01506 831781 number and a ten min chat with a lovely ladyBow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0
