As most of you will by now have realised, Sky have a different dictionary to the rest of us.
Free, means .. well FREE in mine.
It is free in that currently it costs £10 a month if you want to use the Sky+ facilities plus your package charge. They are dropping the £10 a month so the Sky+ facilities are now free if you have a Sky package. It's what a lot of people have been waiting for them to do before joining.0 -

But it isn't free, if like me you don't want to pay Sky any money every month.
It will only be truly " Free " when you can use the Sky+ facility without any subscription at all to Sky.
My Freeview Recorder does much the same as a Sky+ Receiver, I paid for the receiver, a one off payment and I can use it without further charge.
So " Free " in Sky speak, actually means a tenner a month.:rolleyes:0 -
I had a call from Sky yesterday, the offer was :- £15 package for £13.50 for 3 months, £25 credit to my account,+ a free Sky+ receiver & dish on a 12 month contract , any comments on this deal, I have held off going back to them, and am holding out for the best possible deal, Should I be holding out for a better deal? Alan.Every day when I wake up I thank the Lord I'm WELSH. .0

Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou!
I've just got off the phone with Sky. Thanks by the way for the 01506 number (I'm a big fan of saynoto0870).
Firstly I went throught to installations. I said the same kind of thing - I work shifts and don't get to use Sky much anymore so I wish to cancel. I was then put through to sales who tried to sell me Sky+ for over £150 paying fo a new box and installation. I refused their kind (not) offer and said just put me through to cancellation please. I spoke to a very helpful man who offered me the new sky+ box for £49. I said I really didn't want to pay any more, left a longish pause in conversation, he then offered me the grade A reconditioned model with a 12 month guarantee - free installation and no monthly charges!!!
Yipee!!
Thanks OP!!0 -

Have just rang Sky and said I wish to cancel and they just went ahead and did it ! Said I have 30 days before it goes off. Presumably I can just sit and wait to see if I am offered anything and then reinstate if need be after that ?
Have been with them since 2002 so am a bit miffed
Never mind, that is the chance you take I suppose !
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO TAKE TIME TO POST COMPETITIONS

You really dont get it do you
In that case freeview isnt actually free as you payed for the box to revieve the channels.
Why would Sky come and install a Sky+ box for you when you dont want to use any of their services?
The SKY+ is an additional service charged at £10 unless you have premium channels. This fee has now been removed across the board so as long as you have any sky TV subcription including the cheapest most basic one you can have and use the service for no extra montlhy charge. thus the SKY+ has become FREE to all subcribers.
Which is exaclty the point everyone that has SKY is making and which is exactly what is advertised in their leaflet.0 -
just rang 08702404040 john and got it free for mother0

.
You are wrong, it is you that doesn't get it.
I can buy a second hand Sky+ Receiver, a one off payment to buy, like my Freeview Recorder was, but I cannot use the facilities without paying Sky, how can anything that you have to pay for to use be termed as " Free "? :rolleyes:0
