hi

use the number i posted and hopefully you will get john, it took a little
bit of doing, he said £49 and I said no I am going to virgin.
he knew I was'nt my mam but told me in not so many words to pretend
to be her, give it another go I have been trying since 10.15 this morning
using all the other numbers posted but the 08700248974 is the only one
that worked.
good luck
mother is over the moon
at 80years old its about time she got something.
was told as well they are sending out letters to people that have had
sky for over 6 years offering half price.0 -
Have just called Sky and installation is on thursday
From what he said it is a 12 month contract for the sky+ but my sky package can still be cancelled at any time but if I do cancel I will then have to pay the £10 per month charge for sky+ for the remainder of the 12 month contract.
Installation is free and there will be no charge after 1st july with a credit to my account untill then.
The £49 sky+ box is an 80GB PVR2 which will be compatible with sky anytime and is also brand new.
The free sky+ box is a 40GB PVR1 which is not compatible with sky anytime and is refurbished with 12 month warranty.
By the way I was still with sky on £15 a month 2 mix package but out of contract.
SteveWaddle you do eh?0 -
OK, I have signed up to the £26/month base mix + broadband etc and still have 10 months to go on my contract. Has anybody been successful in this circumstance where you are still in contract? I would be more than happy to pay £49 for the sky + box....0

I only left sky last month and they sent me the leaflet!30th June 2021 completely debt free…. Downsized, reduced working hours and living the dream.0 -
Many thanks to op for this!
I am an existing customer but (after speaking to 4 diff peeps) am having a free sky+ box installed at the weekend (free), with monthly credits until july when it becomes free, yippeee!0 -
Just rang the 01506 831781 posted above and on saying I wished to cancel was put straight throught to cancellations. Very nice girl asked why I wished to cancel and as I don't get to watch a lot of the programs when I want, she offered me free Sky+ as I have "been an existing customer for a number of years". Took free refurb box as opposed to £49 new. £10 per month charge waived until July when it will be free anyway. Free installation this friday.
A big thank you to all who posted about thissufferinsnickerinrickrastadley0 -

Kaneaj1,
Do you mind me asking, had your contract expired? If like me you have still got part of your contract left to run, what did you say to them to get the Sky + box for free?0 -
You are wrong, it is you that doesn't get it.
I can buy a second hand Sky+ Receiver, a one off payment to buy, like my Freeview Recorder was, but I cannot use the facilities without paying Sky, how can anything that you have to pay for to use be termed as " Free "?
This is semantics really. Does it matter?
The Sky+ is free in comparison to what it was before, albeit, only if you are a subscribing customer.
If you really wanted to push the point, Freeview, or any other TV service for that matter is not truly free since we all have to pay a licence fee to the BBC, even if we dont want their channels. Using a Freeview box to only watch ITV or Channel 4 still costs you an ongoing yearly fee despite not watching BBC.
This is the same principle as using a secondhand Sky+ box to only watch Freesat channels and not Sky. Only difference is the required fee covers the recording facility.
Nothing is truly free.;)0 -

Hi hun, No my contract is current. I told them that i was an existing customer & had received the leaflet (but couldnt find it). i was initially told that it must have been meant for a previous occupior, & so i wasnt elidgable. They then suggested i call again & speak to customer services to see if something could be done for me.
2nd person i spoke to said i had come through to wrong department, lol.
3rd person didn't care & just kept saying that i wasnt entitled to any offers & this didnt apply to me. I then asked for the cancellations team.
I told the cancellations department that i didnt actually want to cancell but i was sick of seeing 'offers' for new and returning customers. Initially the person said that there was no such offer & minimum offer for anyone was £99for sky+. I then miraculously 'found' my leaflet (thanks to a previous poster for scanning on a pic of it) & read out the details of the free offer - free a grade box, free installation etc. I also said that i had wanted it for ages but couldnt justify the cost so had never bothered. At this point i was put on hold & when they came back they said i could have the offer.
Took me about 1/2 hour to sort it out.
