Hi hun, No my contract is current. I told them that i was an existing customer & had received the leaflet (but couldnt find it
). i was initially told that it must have been meant for a previous occupior, & so i wasnt elidgable. They then suggested i call again & speak to customer services to see if something could be done for me.
2nd person i spoke to said i had come through to wrong department, lol.
3rd person didn't care & just kept saying that i wasnt entitled to any offers & this didnt apply to me. I then asked for the cancellations team.
I told the cancellations department that i didnt actually want to cancell but i was sick of seeing 'offers' for new and returning customers. Initially the person said that there was no such offer & minimum offer for anyone was £99for sky+. I then miraculously 'found' my leaflet (thanks to a previous poster for scanning on a pic of it) & read out the details of the free offer - free a grade box, free installation etc. I also said that i had wanted it for ages but couldnt justify the cost so had never bothered. At this point i was put on hold & when they came back they said i could have the offer.
Took me about 1/2 hour to sort it out.
hth
Hmm sounds like hard work! Might give it a try later if I am feeling brave enough!0 -
James, i just realised what u meant, doh! I have been a customer for about 4 years hun so am out of the 12 month initial period ( which i have just realised u are probably still in).
Sorry for any confusion0 -
This is semantics really. Does it matter?
The Sky+ is free in comparison to what it was before, albeit, only if you are a subscribing customer.
It matters to me, the original post said " Free Sky+ " not free in comparison to what subscribers used to pay before.
I want to buy a used Sky+ Receiver outright, and use it's recording facilities without coughing up to Sky.
As you rightly say, I pay a licence fee to watch the free stuff, so I don't want to pay twice.0 -
They offered me this, I said yes, but when I got the info, they said it had to be connected to the phone line. Now my phone socket is in the hall, with my wi-fi in it. My sitting room (where the sky is) has a laminate floor that we have only just installed! I said I didn't want a rotten telephone wire all round my sitting room (I've ripped out the original one) and they said I had to have it so they could update the software, so I told them to cancel it. I'm going to buy a dvd recorder instead!I Believe in saving money!!!:T
A Bargain is only a bargain if you need it!0 -

That is utter tosh, the software updates via the dish, not the phone line.0 -
Followed all you advice on this thread and ordered sky+ box on sat for 49.00 no istallation etc then reading on today how some people were getting it free i decided to ring back. rang back and asked to cancel sky+ box and get a refund, was given my refund then said i would like to cancel was put through to cancellations said i wanted to cancel as i did not see why i should pay 49.00 for box when i can go to virgin media (have my phone/internet) and pay 30.00 a month he then informed me that he could give a box for free:j
guess what it is getting fitted on sat and im 49.00 richer
thanks again to you all0 -

Why dont you read the leaflet someone scanned and posted which gives the exact details and how they classed it as free from previous offers. It makes perfect sense to everyone else except you.
The basic subscription actually provides additional channels to what is available on freeview. Most of the freeview channels are a waste of space anyway. Ive seen them.
Sky+ used to cost a "addtional subcription fee" on top of channel subscription. but now its dosent. thus that service to sky subsribers is now free. What part dont you understand??
As someone pointed out your freeview isnt actually free so i think you need to get a new dictionary!;)0 -

The only part that I don't understand is how £10 per month translates to " Free "...
Whatever..
Oh and Sky don't have any " waste of space " stuff then ??:rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Hi Steve,
I managed to get the deal - Free Sky+ Box for a 6 months contract on my existing package (£15 per month).
But i didn't check with them, if i want to cancel during these 6 months, what are terms and conditions?
And also, could u pls explain what does it mean not compatible with sky any time?
Thanks,
SyanHave just called Sky and installation is on thursday
From what he said it is a 12 month contract for the sky+ but my sky package can still be cancelled at any time but if I do cancel I will then have to pay the £10 per month charge for sky+ for the remainder of the 12 month contract.
Installation is free and there will be no charge after 1st july with a credit to my account untill then.
The £49 sky+ box is an 80GB PVR2 which will be compatible with sky anytime and is also brand new.
The free sky+ box is a 40GB PVR1 which is not compatible with sky anytime and is refurbished with 12 month warranty.
By the way I was still with sky on £15 a month 2 mix package but out of contract.

Forget it, you obviously aint gonna understand what most people on this thread are and who are also beneifitting from the offer, me included.
Ive got freeview, its integrated in my TV. Most of the channels are crap. Only a handful are any good. I used to end up watching Bid tv channels daily because their never used to be anything else interesting on it.
I have managed to get SKY+ and installtion and box,FREE! no extra cost to me on what ive got.
Thanks for the tip OP:beer:0
