i bought sky freesat (or whatever its called ) for £130 about one year ago,and have a couple of questions,

this installation of sky+ is that just the box ? i ask cos where i live it could take weeks and weeks for them to install

second question , as i have freesat, would it be worth me getting a total new install with one of their packages , so that i could have two dishes (freesat for bedroom) and new dish for sitting room.

    thanks for any help

  • I'm an existing Sky customer and have finally managed to get Sky+ for £49 :j

Spoke to Sky+ Sales and they denied such a deal existed.

Spoke to Customer Services and they said they couldn't do anything for me.

Spoke to Cancellations and they said the price was £99 plus £60 installation = £159 "unless I was going to cancel". So, I threatened to cancel my Sky subscription and within 2 minutes I was offered the £49 deal that doesn't exist!

Moral of the story - Go direct to the Cancellations Department and threatened to cancel - don't budge!!!

Oh, they said that this £49 deal is not highly publicised and I shouldn't tell all my friends and neighbours.... ;)

Nope the installation will include at least a new quad output lnb in addition to the Sky+ box. Takes a few minutes to change the LNB. Only part that takes time is running a new cable to the Sky+ box. It takes 2 cables as it has 2 tuners.

You need to have received the mailshot to get this offer - I have just been on the phone for about half an hour and it seems their system will only allow them to process this offer if it shows that the mailshot has been sent to you.

But apparently everyone will be sent one so it's just a question of waiting for it and then calling back !

Thats not true, I have never recieved any mailshot from sky and im still subsribing to their basic package.

The point is you not supposed to tell them you know about this deal, You just play the cancellation game with them and they then give it you free.

Be persistent that you will cancel.

Thats exactly what I did and got it all free and Ive never seen a mailshot from them just this thread.

When they do send out a mailshot for the July 1st free SKY+ I bet they will still ask for £99 for box and maybe even installation.

Anyone who is out of contract (12 months after taking a new Sky package/product) will get a deal - this has always been the case BUT you must be out of the contract period otherwise you will get no where. You can still be subscribing to a Sky package but be out of your obligated contract.

Always say you wish to cancel and you'll basically be passed onto the retentions team, and as posters have said on this board you will currently be given a free refurb box and free install OR a brand new box and free install for £49.00. There have been some reports of a free new box and free install but this does not seem to be the norm.

The thing that some people have forgotten is if they have signed up to Sky Broadband they are in effect tied into a new twelve month contract as TV and Broadband contracts are intrinsically linked. Also, there are some mail shots being sent out for people currently in contract on standard Sky digi boxes to purchase Sky+ for £49.00 plus the £60.00 install, but Sky do know who has received them.

The moral of the story - If you're in a contract period you're going to be paying £159.00 for Sky+. if you're out of contract and THREATENING TO CANCEL, you'll come up trumps with an attractive deal. If you've left Sky all together you'll be offered a deal to come back (usually a very attractive one).

If anyone knows different I would be interested to know.

I would be very interested to hear how you did this as after several phone calls (and I know how to play the system) I had no such luck.

    Hi James

My sky Tv contract was up but I was still in a contract for sky broadband (had it less than six months) I didn't threaten to cancel as I know this wouldn't work.

The first two phone calls were unsucessful

    1. Lady said the offer wasn't available to me only new customers
    2. Guy said I could have it for £100 and no less so I said no

3rd time I rang up I spoke to a nice guy and said I am ringing about the sky + offer and he took my details and said where did you hear about it - so I said I had a leaflet (I haven't really been sent one) and read the details from the leaflet (page 1 of this post), so he said ok and arranged a time for installation.

You can only try, personally I think it is pot luck - and totally depends on who answers the phone, just hang up and try again - ohh and James put on your sweetest voice!!!!
