  • Have just contacted Sky, telling them that i had been offered a V+ from Virgin Media (not quite). I am in still in contract to the beginning of July, so I was quite happy when I was offered a brand new Sky box for £49, and no charge for installation. The box will be installed next Friday. Success!!!!!
  • is this offer still on? is it free to NEW customers? cheers
  • Firstly thank you so much to the OP for this priceless info!:T

I have had Sky+ installed and the engineer has left us with an extra sky+ remote for the magic eye upstairs.

Can anyone tell us how to program the remote so that it works upstairs. Have trawled through the whole thread and tried some of the suggestion but nothing has worked so far!

    Help!

You don't need to program the remote! Have you got the lead connected to the right RF terminal on the Sky+ box (the one with power going through it)? Have you enabled that RF terminal on your Sky+ box? (Done through the services/set up menu).

    Here's some help for you:

    http://www.wiredhomeguide.co.uk/audiovisual/rf_active.htm

If you haven't done that, your magic eye won't work.

EDIT: The above website doesn't make it totally clear. You need to select Services, then System Set Up (4), then press 01 Select to get to the engineer's menu. When you're at the engineer's menu, you need to select 4 again (RF Outlets). When the next page comes up, switch RF Outlet Power Supply to On, then save your settings. Then you're all done. Make sure your cable is on the right RF terminal (powered one), and you should be sorted.

Change the batteries? My new Sky+ remote had batteries that were dead within a day (and I saw him put the new batteries in!). You've done everything that should make it work. If it's not the batteries, give Sky a ring. Could even be your magic eye in on the blink?

I work for sky (or have just completed my training and start properly on monday) and can confirm as correctly mentioned Sky + is free from the 1st July with any subscription, sky dont do refurb boxes generally I believe its a way of them giving you an extra discount by offering you a 'refurb' and you will actually get a new box straight off the van.

    Cheers Matt.

    thanks

I told him I was disappointed that all the good (free) offers were for new and returning customers. He offered me Sky+ for a one-off payment of £49 but payment was needed there and then, I said I wasn't in a position to do that, he said let me speak to my manager, came back and said ok, free sky+ and free installation.
