Oh well, it was worth a try I suppose. Thanks for replying though!
I only started looking into it cos I do actually want to get Sky+ and then I stumbled upon this. Guess I'll have to keep my ears open for anymore new deals in the future.0 -

I only ever threaten to cancel if I am 100% sure that I am prepared to fo through with the threat. lets not forget how many people phone up Sky and say they want to leave, the CS on the end of the phone has heard it all before. I understand they will install a new box for £49 though, which is still a good deal.0 -

See, I would be happy with that deal, so long as it means not paying £60 just for installation but I'm obviously not convincing enough for them to offer it to me, lol! Maybe I should get another family member to give it a go... Thanks!0 -
I have a feeling that you may have missed the boat, probably best cancelling and going back as a new customer.
Not sure if this is still the case so apologies if this has changed but it used to be the that if you cancel you are not regarded as a "new customer" for two years after your cancellation date i.e. if you cancelled your Sky and then tried to join up under your wifes name their system would see the same surname and prevent you recieving "new customer deals". However, if you don't share the same surname then that's not a problem
Obviously, if you cancel you then become eligible as a "returning customer" and the periodic incentives/offers that entails (such as the OP offer).

Aha, I wondered why the sky guy I spoke to yesterday asked if I had left them over a year ago0 -

Stick to your guns Angel when you say it.. I had the offer straight away when I threatened to cancel but when my sister phone to say she wanted to cancel they just said ok - your account will be put on 30 notice and will close in 30 days. She stuck to it ( knowing she had 30 days to change her mind ) and just said oh that was easier that I though cancelling would be thanks, the guy sounded shocked she was glad she had been cancelled and started offering her all sorts of offers until he offered free sky+ and installation.
If they cancel you then so what - you can always call then back in a couple of weeks and uncancel if they dont ring you first to offer you an incentive to stay with them.0 -
Thanx for your replies. Just wanted to check I wasn't missing the boat. ;-)
I had a problem with my Sky+ box about 6 weeks ago, kept getting "no satellite signal" message so Sky came out and replaced it with a recon Amstrad. Happened again last week and when the Engineer came this time he said I had been given a recon box last time but he didn't have any on the van, only new ones, so I got a brand new one! :-) So what someone said here earlier about sometimes striking lucky and not being lumbered with a recon is true!
Oh, and just remember that if your Sky+ box goes wrong and they have to change it, you lose all the TV progs you had recorded on there! That's a bummer. Wish Sky had a way they could transfer them to your new box via a cable. The world is full of crashing bores...0 -
I cancelled 6 weeks ago (was offered nothing at the time) have been offered nothing since and am now missing sky..I didnt think i would, especially tonight as the football is only on sky.
At least I am saving £37 a month...thats really money saving!!
ps was with them for years0 -

Don't like the thought of them not offering anything but like DAMNOME says, I've got 30 days to reinstate it if I don't manage to get anything from them.0 -
