Sky engineer's here at the moment, sortingout my tv eye for Sky+, replacing the Sky+ box that blew up and also putting the old digibox in a room upstairs. Gave me an Amstrad PVR3. :D

Aren't Amstrad the dodgy boxes ??????

It's replacing the Amstrad PVR2 that was installed and blew up yesterday. It's got a 12 month guarantee. If it goes wrong again, I'll demand a new box that isn't an Amstrad.

Probably, just leave it switched off / unplugged overnight, then try it again tomorrow, if no green light it is probably dead.

Is it a Grundig Receiver by chance?

    No, Panasonic

I'm quite PO now as I only wanted to pay no more than £20 to use the box as a freesat box rather than waste a (as I thought) "good box".
If I've got to but a new/recon replacement box on top of the £20 then I really wish I hadn't bothered.

I'm sure he messed it up somehow as it was fine before, he was a bit - well lets say not the sharpest engineer I've met - had to remind him to fit the covers over the holes he drilled and left lots of mess - AND I gave him biccies and carton of (expensive!) ocean spray juice as it was so hot and he was in the sun - grrr

Plan B then - persuade BiL to upgrade to Sky+ (for free) and nick his old box as he won't need it 'cos he's only got 1 telly!

Hi, I'm going to sign up for Sky as a new customer for their combined TV/broadband package now that my area is finally 'enabled' after months of waiting to get the good deal.
I don't have an old sky box to put upstairs in my bedroom as I'm a new customer.
Can anybody help me with what I need to do to get the Sky signal to the TV in my bedroom? I already have an 'eye' thing to plug in but not sure how to actually connect it up once I've got Sky installed.

    Many thanks.

I wanted multiroom but was unable to get it. I bought a wireless tv signal sender from amazon for £35 it is quick and easy to install and it also lets you use your sky remote (sky +) in my case in a different room without any other cables. It is completely wireless and i am really happy

i imagine there are other similar systems this is just the one i purchased and am really happy with it. Hope it helps

Just found this thread. I ordered Sky+ with multiroom last week for installtion in my bedroom, not knowing about these offers on Sky+ boxes, so I am paying £99 with free installation, plus of course £10 pm multiroom. Installation is scheduled for this Thursday (7th June).

I'm now tempted to call Sky and ask if they will modify my order and offer me a free refurbished box or a new box for £49. However, I suspect that I stand little chance as a) they obviously know I want it and b) because I've already paid. I suppose if they refuse I can still cancel the installation, but going back to point a) I want it! The only other thing I can think of is to insist on getting one of the 160Gb boxes as some form of compensation for paying the full price.

    Any other thoughts?

    Thanks, Joe

You should be getting a new 160GB box anyway if you are paying the £99. Just remember with the new box you get Sky Anytime so 80GB is away from the start leaving you just 80GB (40Hours) to record your own stuff with
