Fogive me if this is a stupid question but .........

I've got an engineer coming on Thursday to put my Sky+ in but I quite like the idea of being able to view channels in another room either view one of those 'Magic Eye' thingies, or by relocating my old box.

Question - if I were to move my old box to our bedroom say, and I managed to get the really nice engineer to run some cable for me, don't I need some sort of viewing card for my old box and if so, won't Sky know that I'm running 2 boxes and then charge me £10 a month for multiroom ????? Freesat in the bedroom would do if I'm not going to incur any further charge !!

If that's not the case then great, otherwise I fear a feed off the mainbox and a magic eye might be the best way.

  • Hope someone can help me here.
I am currently in the process of moving house and contacted SKY this morning trying to get a deal. I have SKY+ in the living room and SKY in the bedroom and pay £53.00 per month.
They are giving me free installation to the new house but I wanted to know whether anyone knew what I could ask for after I have moved. I find that the monthly amount is to high to justify so does anyone think I could ask for half price or even better. I would be prepared to stop the sports if needs be but would rather cut off my right arm....
Please help save my right arm!!!!!!

The Sky man told me that we could just fit a new cable (standard tv cable from Focus etc) up to one of the bedrooms and the old box could then be used as a Freesat box with no extra charges/no card needed.

I've just been on the phone to Sky for 45 minutes (01506 number thankfully!) and have taken an offer. My situation's a bit different because I'm moving house, so I told them I would probably cancel before I moved because I'm starting a new job when I would miss a lot of the stuff I watch so it wouldn't be worth the money any more. She tried selling me Sky+... I told her I can't afford it, I might try Virgin instead and maybe come back to Sky if they had any offers for old customers returning like this current free Sky+ offer... wasn't getting anywhere with that! In the end I got out of her:

    Sky+ box for £49 instead of £99
No moving home charge (normally £40, she said)
No Sky+ subscription charge (i.e. waived until 1st July when it's free anyway)

    Good deal?

Edit: Forgot to ask - what shall I do with my old Sky box?

He should have told you that you will need Satellite Cable, not standard TV Cable which is just co-ax.

    Satellite Cable is screened.

Not being rude, but why don't you read the thread??

Thank you for your answer , i have phoned cancelations and been offered nothing or been told they dont offer anytyhing , i have tried the sky plus number to upgrade and been told they dont do refurb boxes any more and if i wanted sky+ it would cost me £159...

reason for asking who is everyone phoning is cause i have tried the numbers suggested and got no where so i guess no sky plus for me:confused:

    Try this number 08703 360 150 and quote Sky+IAF

This will get you free sky+ and installation for free.

The activation fee of £40 is for broadband I believe and not for getting sky+ etc.

Note you have to be a new customer.
