Hi, I'm going to sign up for Sky as a new customer for their combined TV/broadband package now that my area is finally 'enabled' after months of waiting to get the good deal.
I don't have an old sky box to put upstairs in my bedroom as I'm a new customer.
Can anybody help me with what I need to do to get the Sky signal to the TV in my bedroom? I already have an 'eye' thing to plug in but not sure how to actually connect it up once I've got Sky installed.
Many thanks.
Hi Snaffs - just done this myself, its brilliant. you'll need a cable running from your 'rf2 out' on your sky box to the tv upstairs. (i ran mine out of the wall next to the original one, up the wall into the loft and then down into the bedroom as my tv is on the wall.)
the tv link plugs into the back of the telly and the cable plugs into the tv link. You'll then need to turn on the power to the rfout2 connection, which powers the tv link. see this link for detailed instructions. (they also do cheap replacement handsets etc so you can keep one in the bedroom, and i've found them to be a good site):

if you get another remote you'll need to code it to your upstairs telly. let us know how u get on.:D0 -
I currently use Sky+ and was paying £25 a month. That was £15 for 2 channel mixes and then £10 a month for the Sky+. Just had a letter telling me they are dropping the £10 a month Sky+ charge. But that still means I pay £15 for 2 TV mixes so why are some people saying they are getting Sky TV free? I'm confused (mind you, not difficult - bear of small brain!).
I am also thinking of getting a wireless video sender kit to use my Sky upstairs - will this mean I can still access the Sky+ services if I get the right remote for it?
Thank you.The world is full of crashing bores...0 -

I have this set-up remoted to two additional TV's, did it myself (I think the Sky enginners make a killing on what they charge for the bit's & peices and installation) and was easy as pie and works like a dream. If you do wish to get the signal to more than one other TV in the house then these are the distribtion amps to use as they allow the remote signal to "pass back through" them into to the Sky box (some distribution amps prevent the remote signal passing through them). This first web-site is handy as it has simple schematics of how to set TV Links up:

Good luck

I think it must be, I got a recon box installed on Sun, told my friend about it and they rang yesterday and could only get the £49 one but were happy to go with that.0 -
Just found this thread. I ordered Sky+ with multiroom last week for installtion in my bedroom, not knowing about these offers on Sky+ boxes, so I am paying £99 with free installation, plus of course £10 pm multiroom. Installation is scheduled for this Thursday (7th June).
I'm now tempted to call Sky and ask if they will modify my order and offer me a free refurbished box or a new box for £49. However, I suspect that I stand little chance as a) they obviously know I want it and b) because I've already paid. I suppose if they refuse I can still cancel the installation, but going back to point a) I want it! The only other thing I can think of is to insist on getting one of the 160Gb boxes as some form of compensation for paying the full price.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks, Joe
Well, I called Sky and explained nicely that having ordered Sky+ at £99 I was obviously a bit miffed to find that some users have been offered free rufurbished boxes and new boxes at £49. The guy I spoke was was helpful but insistent that he was unaware of any special offers and confirmed that the price is still £99. I then asked if they would supply me with a Sky+ 160 box as some form of compensation, he went away to check and came back on to tell me that Sky no longer supplies the 160 box so that would not be possible. That's a shame as my son has a 160 box and I like the fact that when you put it in standby the drive actually spins down so it is completely silent, particularly important as this is going into a bedroom.
Can anyone confirm if any of the standard Sky+ boxes, Amstrad. Thomson or Pace, also shut down completely when in standby so that I can ask the installer if they have one of those boxes on the van?
Thank, Joe0 -

People are getting the whole Sky Plus package free though. They are getting a free box, installation and not having to pay a monthly fee - so that side is totally free.My hubby phoned them last night to cancel (we have been with them 10 years)hoping they would offer free sky+ box etc but they offered £49. offer when he asked about a recon one they said they have run out  and would have offered that to us but no boxes left:mad: is this right?I got a brand new box fitted yesterday when I should have been given a recon A grade box, because the installer didn't have any recon boxes left.
They may well have genuinely now run out and are just offering brand new boxes at £49.0 -
Would someone please be kind enough to help me?
I've just been on the phone to Sky, trying to get some kind of deal out of them as I would really like a new Sky+ box but without the installation fee.
However, none of them are prepared to do anything even when I said I want to cancel...0 -

I have a feeling that you may have missed the boat, probably best cancelling and going back as a new customer.0
