    Thanks Saeed,

I really appreciate your response, just wanted to check though on point 2 you mentioned that they give you a separate box, does that mean my old sky box has no more use?, or do i still need to have it in order to recieve sky itself??, or does the sky+ box do both the recording and carry out all the functions that my old sky box (not sky+) did?....i.e do you just have the one box rather than two?
  • i saw this thread this morning and have been threatening sky all day that im going to cancel. i explained how i work nights now and dont have a need for my tv package. i was then told that they could only reduce my package saving me £3 per month but it might be possible to get a free refurbished sky+ box free of charge. he told me that it would be sales that would deal with it as im tied into my contract until november 2007. but when i go through to sales they tell me that they dont deal with that side and that it would be customer services that deal with it. so i go through customer services and get nowhere and get passed through to cancelations where i then get a lecture on how this offer is not available and how i cant cancel coz im still in contract. i now got address for head office. please help.

It seems I finally said the right thing to get the deal:'Sadly I want to cancel.........' Was put through to the relevant department and after being put on hold was offered the free box or the £49 box which I took with installation on June 11th which suits me fine.
Many thanks to everyone who has added to this thread and encouraged me to keep trying, it finally worked!
  • nice to see some people are getting there. wish i could lol

Your new Sky+ Receiver will do both functions, your old Sky Receiver is yours to keep, or use in another room.;)

wait until October, cancel then (you have to give 1 months notice)
I think that's about all you can do.

I plucked up the courage to ring back and ask to end my subscription and was put straight through to the cancellations department, I basically told them the truth about my situation (work) and I was offered Sky+ for £49 and free installation. I've also got them to knock £5 off my monthly subscription by just losing Sky Sports 2 and Sky Sports Xtra which I never watch. The lady I spoke to was absolutely lovely!

I'm very happy! Thankyou to everyone for their advice and the original poster :)

Just been offered a free reconditioned 20gb box and free installment, absolutely no hassle, its arranged for the 11th, however, I did wonder whether I should have gone for the new 80gb box?, should I phone back and say I prefer to pay £49 for the new box....any thoughts?
