    I have a result !!:j

Called the number in post #223 - 08700248973.

I told the lady that I was interested in the free Sky+ offer that all my friends and family (!!!;) ) were being offered. She asked where I heard about it and I mentioned the flyer, friends and the internet ;) .

First of all she said it was only for new customers but I said that everyone I knew who was having it had been customers for years.

She put me on hold then came back and offered me Sky+ for £49.00 one-off payment for a brand new 160gb box, no installation and no monthly charge. I didn't push for the free box as she'd offered me Sky+ which was what I wanted - and was more than I got last week when I called and was told I couldn't have it until I received the flyer!!!

She couldn't have been more helpful and I couldn't be more pleased! Only downside is I have to wait till 13 June for installation :(

THANKS OP - going to click your button now.

    One VVVVVV happy bunny !!!! :j :j :j :j

Very happy here - I called up and told them that I'd heard about the offer and could I have it. The operator said there was no such deal and it would cost me £160 for the box and installation - but she would waive the £10 subscription fee. I declined the offer.

I immediately phoned again and spoke to a different person and said that I was going to cancel my subscription as I was working shifts and never got to watch any TV. The operator said that as a call centre worker he knew what I was talking about. After being transferred to the retentions dept. I was offered a brand new 80 hour box plus installation for £49 and no subscription fee.

I was also told that it comes with a years warranty and so I could cancel my Sky repair plan saving me another £7 a month.

My tips: Keeping trying and be unfailing polite and cheerful with the operators.

Thanks to you all for spotting this.

Got my box this morning and Installed a brand spanking new 250GB samsung HDD into it. Full process to install took 20 minutes then 50 Minutes to perform the format (Full system reset). Now have around 120 Hours recording..

You have instructions for this as I want to do something similar to mine..

Just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone here with their success stories that finally encouraged me to call Sky last night.

The really nice lady I dealt with offered me a brand new 80 hour Sky+ box for £49 with no subs. Even cut my £43.50 a month Sky World 'habit' down to an £18 4 mix too and the offer still stood !! Install next Thursday - my birthday !!! - hooray !!

We had a nice chat about broadband too which might give some leverage with my current ISP - bonus !!

    Thanks again all !!

Has anybody tried getting the engineer to put an extra cable to use the old box upstairs? A few quids were mentioned before, how much a fiver or a tenner, do not wish to offend the chap? Cup of coffee and chocies will be on offer, just hope he is not grumpy. I am going to ask casual whether he minds putting an extra cable whilst he is at it for the bedroom and see how it goes. Thanks

I'm thinking about doing this as well, and use it is a freesat from sky box. I think that Sky would be happy to do this, because you could always upgrade if it's already installed.
Do we get to keep the old box? Also, is there a new card for the Sky+ box or will we need to use the same one?

If we cannot get it installed upstairs, can a sat cable be run from the LNB manually?

    hmm... intriguing.

I offered a £10 and that worked well. My neighbour offered £20 and it was done so it should do!
