Yep it is slightly slower. But im not complaining, been playing around with it and its really easy to use and very handy.

Now I can finally watch stuff that a couldnt before due to work.

I got the the pace box PVR2 and it is a bit slower, but totally agree that is easy to use. Have just bought a 160gb hard drive to replace the 40gb thats currently in there.

    Supposedly an easy upgrade.

Here's some links from Personal Computer World magazine website to instructions on how to do it if anyones interested.

This link has some info regarding to upgrade

Sorry your wrong on that count, you're referring to the original Thomson 160 Sky+ box which is now outdated and is not generally being swapped over. Actually if you did so happen to get offered it I'd refuse as there were issues with it's audio and reliability.

If you want to see all the Sky PVR's here's the best link:

Noooooooo! Have just bought a 160gb hard drive and have just checked this website and it says I already have an 80/80gb split drive. Oh wel Ebay for that one!

Does this mean that it will be capable of receiving sky anytime?

    EXTREMELY ANNOYED CUSTOMER!!!!

Right, I rang the sales team about a week ago and as an existing customer asked if they would do the Sky + box for £99 & waive the installation fee. He agreed to do this and had it installed on Saturday...GREAT!
WRONG! I have just checked my credit card statement this morning and have been charged £99 + £60 installation!!!!
Have just rang them up to complain and have been passsed from one department to another and are denying that i was ever offered this! What shall I do? They are now saying that they do not have a complaints department and the only thing I can do is to write a letter. I am on the 4 mix + broadband + phone. Really feel like cancelling my entire subscription. I know I am locked in to a 12 month broadband contract...am I able to cancel my TV package and continue to pay £5 /month for my broadband?

    Thanks in advance

The guy who came here wanted to put another cable in next to the existing one. I said no way, as I had the walls plastered a year ago  I can always put it in later myself if I want to.

To make the Sky+ recording function work, without it, you may just as well have a standard Sky Receiver.

They can replace the existing single cable with a 2 in1 cable, which is slightly wider than the original cable, but appears as a single cable.

    Massive thanks to the OP:beer:

I am a current subscriber (out of contract for at least 5 years) and had toyed with the idea of phoning about this for days and I finally bit the bullet last night and phoned.

I simply said that I wanted to cancel my subscription as I was very busy during the evenings taking the kids to groups etc and that this is usually when I miss the programmes that I would like to be seeing so I could no longer justify paying £43.50 for programmes that I keep missing.

The operator immediately offered me the free sky+box (40 hr box - I don't know what size that is in GB's), free installation and free sky+ fees (that they admitted were being dropped from july anyway).
The installation will take place this Friday afternoon:j

I can't thank the OP enough - I've never phoned sky for any discounts etc before as I was always worried that they'd just cancel my package, but this was too good to miss!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you:T

Rubbish :D its so you can record one channel and watch another.

I refused the 2nd cable and he said fine, you will only be able to watch and record the same channel, which is OK for me. One day I might put the other cable in, he left me enough loose cable if I want to do it myself. The installation guy was great tbh.

Had my free Sky+ box installed this morning :j

Looks like it is a PVR2 refurb but seems to all be working fine.

Engineer was great - even though we had put in a pond since the original dish went up so we didn't exactly make it easy for him :D

He also gave me a 'free star games pass' - ie play Sky Games on interactive TV for a day, free. Did everyone else get one of these?

    Thanks again to OP
