Yup, it was free and the 80GB (Really 160GB) one. I strongly suspect it was a refurb but it looks good as new and has presumably got the guarantee too.
The 160GB has 160GB written on the front of it in big letters.

The Pace PVR2 is the one most people are getting i think. Thats the "A Grade" one. 40GB, unless the installer hasnt got one then you get the PVR3 80GB one.0 -
Have been a subscriber for Sky for 10 years. Pay £42.50 per month
I would like Sky+ but cannot order it as I cannot have a phoneline connected to my box as the phone socket is 15-20 feet away from the box.
Any way around this?
In my previous house I used to have the phoneline connected for the first 12 months but cannot do this in my new house-it wouldn't look right.
Really annoying I'm missing out on Sky+
Any advise?0 -

Why cant you? You can get the phone line stapled to your skirting boards or around door frames. the sky installer will do it. You wont even notice its there.0 -

I think you are supposed to have the phone line connected with standard sky as well, but we havent since moving in three years ago only ever connect it when ordering ppv and have never had a problem with it.TESCO EVERY LITTLE change to the t&cs HELPS0 -
ok so its a 40gb box....however im puzzled about something...
in my personal planner, i basically set loads of things to record, i thought id test it to see if it tells me there is no more room for your planned recordings....but it just keeps letting me plan and plan and plan and theres no way it can record all of it so how do u know if you have enough space for all your recordings?
the bar at the top of the planner only tells u how much is already stored.0 -

Sorry your wrong on that count, you're referring to the original Thomson 160 Sky+ box which is now outdated and is not generally being swapped over. Actually if you did so happen to get offered it I'd refuse as there were issues with it's audio and reliability.
If you want to see all the Sky PVR's here's the best link:

Its doesnt tell you that, only lets you know when somethings recorded how much space is left.
Guidelines are that whatever your space is eg: 40gb, half it to get your recording time so 20hr recording, 80gb=40hrs and so on.0 -

to claify, all refurbs that sky give u come with a 12mth guarantee. Also, if you have had sky+ recently installed, be warned - sky told me on the phone today that i will be charged my usual £18 in june, but then £29 in July to cover my sky+ from today until july 1st when the subscription ends. As from Aug my bills will go back to being £18. The free subscription is for life, sky will never charge you again for this service.
anyway...back on my subject.....
thats the only thing i dont like about it. if you say have 10hrs of stuff kept back to watch and u want to set a load of things to record, you then need to go back and work out and add up hw much more u can record??!!
oh, and i got the AMSTRAD DRX-180 = PVR2 - 40gb. If I find its not enough, I will install a bigger hard drive. I'm guessing if I install a 160gb myself, I still wont receive sky anytime??0
