£20 for a Freesat Card, or use an ex sub card, they work the same.

The only channels you will get over and above are CH4 Channel 5's ( 3 of them ) and Sky 3, all others don't need a card.

Try pulling your viewing card out to find out what is free. ;)

so basically mate I can ring sky, tell em I want a FREE SKY+ box, and they'll come and fit it and I'll be able to use the sky+ recording feature for FREE as long as I want and NOT be under any contract or have to pay anything per month for ever?? this sounds too good to be true

You would have to be an existing customer paying a package price (regardless of what package you take) and out of contract (ie had it for more than a year)

The free upgrade is an extention of your existing contract, if you cancel sky package in this time you still have to pay skyplus charge of £10 per month for a year.

There is not a way in this world a non sky customer is going to be given EVERYTHING for free.

Get ya! Thanks mate, thats cleared it up. so the only way I'll get the free sky+ box is IF I already subscribe to sky is that correct?

Yes you do - the installers have just left and mine is connected - but I think I read somewere (might have been on here) that you only have to leave it connected for a year?

  • you do need to keep an active phone line connected to your sky box.

once a month sky send a call back in the middle of the night to your box to ensure that it is connected, if after a few attempts they do not receive a callback they will send you a violation letter, eventually after a couple of these they will start to add the violation charge to your sky account.

they do this to prevent you from using your subsidised sky equipment in another property.

if you have multiroom that box also must be connected to the phone line.

Sky also on occasions send updates for the box via the phone line.

as far as i understand it they need the phone line to be able to restrict your viewing if you do not pay your bill, but i may be wrong

thanks for that, I haven't got a phone line in the living room, do you reckon if I get a sky+ box they would bring whatever is required to get it connected (you can tell I'm no telecoms engineer!) or will I have to make sure I have sorted it out beforehand? (Its never been connected to the phone in my current property and it hasn't been a problem so far, been here 4 years).

Wrong on both counts, updates are via your dish, not your phone line, as are any viewing restrictions placed upon the card.;)
