    Got mine installed today!

Its a PVR2 but im not bothered as it like brand new, couldnt fault it and its free after all.:D

Sky guy seemed abit dodgy, tried to use my old box cables and leave me with just a box.

Had to tell him to give me a new set off cables, so he gave me them.

Just tried to get this, got it offered no problem but unfortunately they can't do it because I haven't got a land line! Is there any way round this as they insisted that no engineer will install without a phone line and they can't do the usual waiver fee that you can get on standard Sky boxes?!?!

Ok let me get this straight as I simply cant get my head around it.

Im an existing sky customer. I have dish outside already. Can I ring them up and get free sky installation, a free sky+ box and then be able to use the sky+ feature for FREE without paying for ANY monthly channel subscribtion?? Are you sure its not one of those 'get it free for 6months and then start paying monthly charges after that' type things?

Also can you get freeview channels WITHOUT paying £100 for a freeview viewing card? (thats what I got quoted a year ago when I had sky)

Also what number do I ring to get this to happen? It all sounds too good to be true, surely we aint gonna get all this for free without paying for anything sky related in the future???
  • Hi nicky1312

just to clarify they have waived my multiroom subscription of £10.00 per month due to them giving me poor information in the first place, i had to speak to the customer retention manager to get this done however.

The £10 sky plus charge is automatically waived from the 1st of July for everyone with sky+ those with the full package who already get it for free will not notice any difference however.

if you do not get what you want try escalating it to a team leader or manager who have more authority over extra discounts.

£20 for a Freesat Card, or use an ex sub card, they work the same.

The only channels you will get over and above are CH4 Channel 5's ( 3 of them ) and Sky 3, all others don't need a card.

Try pulling your viewing card out to find out what is free. ;)

Hi! Thanks to everyone contributing to this thread!

I rang yesterday saying I'm always finding myself out when progs I watch are on so can't justify continued payment, so would like to cancel (this is actually all true, except I wasn't going to cancel yet). Got put through to someone else "who could help me" who verified I wanted to cancel, so I said yes and explained why again. He checked with me that I'd been with Sky for 4 years and had the 2-mix package, and then more or less straight away offered the free installation, free subscription and box for £49.99. I said that was a very tempting offer (which it was -- I'd got the okay to get it for £49.99, but I wanted to see if I could get a free reconditioned box), so I asked if it was for a new box, and then if they'd got any reconditioned ones for cheaper (you can get two freeview boxes for £50), which led to an offer of a free recon'd box. :D

I also double checked about the free subscription, saying I thought it was a permanent £10 a month, but he volunteered the information that Sky were scrapping the subs charge from July, and that they'd credit my account with £20 to cover the cost from now until then.

I had a chat about what the differences were between the recon'd and the new box, and he said the old box was a Grade A box [don't know what this means] and has a 120GB drive, whereas the new one was only 80GB, but also does Sky Anytime. I'm not too interested in Sky Anytime so I went for the free box.

The T&C tied me in for another 12 months, but that's okay -- I'm guessing this is the same for everyone.

Given the LNB would cost £50 or more on its own, this is indeed a great offer! I can put the old box in the bedroom for baby's early morning weekend CBeebies viewing when he wakes up [6am!] whilst the older two can watch something else when they get up [6.30am!], and I can get to lie-in until 7.30am! (I know, I'm a terrible parent!)

Will let you know what box arrives next Thursday.

    Thanks again everyone!

  • hi paul 7331,

The offer is really for returning customers but many existing customers have been succesful too, by threatening to leave, Tell them you are thinking of leaving as you are not really making use of the sky as you are very busy, hopefully they will offer you sky+ for free

If they do not ask to be put through to customer retention, explain to them you are thinking of leaving as you do not get to watch the T.V much as you are busy and you miss your favourite programmes, tell them you explained that and that your friend/colleague has been offered free sky plus yet this offer is not available to you and that you think this is double standards.

if they still refuse ask to speak to a team leader or manager who have greater flexibility on freebies.
They could offer you free sky+ and free installation you will still have to pay your standard monthly subscription however.

it is worth a try as i know of at least twelve people personally who have been succesful only two who have not.

if they still threaten want you to cancel and you do not want to then just say you need to chek with your partner before finally cancelling.
