my grandson stays with me regularly ... for weeks at a time during the summer. i wouldnt dream of asking my daughter for money to feed him ( she does send him with money for if i take him out anywhere though)

now someone will say my benefits are too generous because i can afford tyo feed a 9 year old as well as myself .... i save up for it though!
god i shouldnt be allowed to save anything either should i? ;)

you need to read all the posts. i was jumped on because i have my grandson to stay in school holidays and my daughter doesnt give me hus chgild benefit.
what does that have to do with expecting the state to pay and be responsible?
some people just like to disagree with everyone else for their own amusement. and that isnt the intention behimd the forum

Actually, you proffered up your situation, almost baiting people to jump on you.
And in doing so, you diverted the thread from the OP to a lengthy discussion about your situation.
Then you complain that people have a go at people. Amazing.

    there you go,
and by taking the 'bait' it seems like i have succeeded doesnt it?

you know that the 'jumping on' isnt confined to this thread, it is all over the forum.
all i do now is answer the accusations before they come to save the bashers the time.
i think thats quite decent of me actually ;)

In the kindest possible terms, alot of threads on this board do seem to get around to you and your personal circumstances nannytone. Would it not seem prudent to try to avoid that rather than get quite so involved?

i give my circumstances as an example of the point i am trying to make, purely because my circumstances are something that i am an authority on.

no one forces you to read my posts, but you seem drawn to them.

mnaybe because you see it as an opportunity to 'vent your feelings'
maybe you need counsekkung to help you ober your issues

You have had a go at three people on this thread alone. I would suggest that in this instance, the person shouting 'bully' should actually be looking at their own behaviour.

youre as bad as dunroaming for making things up rather than reacting to what was actually posted.

i never called anyone a 'bully', just stated what i see to be the truth .... that it doesnt matter what i say, there are certain people that will 'jump' om posts and disagree just to be pedantic!

if i had said that i ask my daughter for £40 for every week i have my grandson, then someone would have said how terrible i was for charging my daughter for having my grandson visit me!

it has been said before ( and i agree) that i can give it out, so should expect to 'take it' too ( whicj i do)
but it applies both ways ...

dont be ridiculous. no one expects me to do anything. my grandson likes to stay with me and i like to have him here
dont all normal loving grandparents have their grandchildren to stay during school holidays?
    exploiting??? get a grip.
like every family with no one person earning 60k she receives £20 a week child benefit for him.

if you would only let grangkids visit, if you got paid, then i pity them!

Can't you see the irony of spending a lot of time on a forum complaining about the inadequcy of the benefits system and, at the same time, not taking money from your daughter that's given her for the purpose of feeding your grandson?

That's not to mention the fact that he'll, presumably, be staying in your spare bedroom which you say is never used and you're being charged an arm and a leg for.

i dont say the benefit system is inadequate.
i have said that the reduction in houysing benefit is unfair because the smaller properties are not available for people to move into.
that is a mayyer of social housing, and not benefit rates.
i have also said that i will manage, but many other people won;t be able to.

if a friend comes round, i dont charge them for the teabag/milk/sugar either.
i have also said that it cosys no more to feed my grandson than it does to feed myself, as he eats fresh veg/fruit/pasta and not processed foods.
in fact of anything, it is cheaper when he is here because i can buy the larger, more cost efgfective sizes.

and no ... he doesnt stay in the spare room as there is no bed in there ... in fact all that is in there is carpet and curtains. he sleeps with me in my bed

I have seen countless posts where you have said you 'only' receive x amount.

Nanny have you thought of looking on the likes of Freecycle for some furniture for the spare room just a thought it seems a bit bleak with just carpets and curtains :(
