Yet a customer thinks they're buying a tv pack, knows that tv packs can be downgraded with 31 days notice and that upgrading a tv pack doesn't enter them in to a new minimum term; but can go through the online ordering process without having a 12 month minimum term clearly signposted to them ?!

If upgrading to EE+ does indeed carry a 12 month minimum term, such a fundamental condition (length of contract) should be signposted in red, in the order summary, in my opinion, so that it isn't possible to go through the checkout without being presented with this information.

I don't deal with online side, when doing it over the phone our systems present us with a message to let everyone know it's a 12 month, also had training on it, taking out an entertainment or extra pack is a 12 month, but upgrading to EE+ also is because of the HD subscription.

A customer could start with "Entertainment" though and upgrade to "Entertainment Extra" 10 months in to a minimum term without entering a new 12 month contract.

I'm getting the impression that Sky haven't thought this through sufficiently from the perspective of a customer.

Anyhow, 12 month minimum term is a deal-breaker for me. I've no active plan to ditch Sky TV, but nor would I commit to 12 months by ugrading at the point where things are about to get very interesting with BT Sport and BT's beefed-up television offering.:)

It seems to be the modern way to reward peoples' custom by increasingly seeking to lock them in to minimum terms!

BT sport all well and good but Sky have all pick of the games, if it's football you like. & Yes you're correct you can but EE+ is different.

To be fair, the difference this time, is that BT have acquired 18 of the 38 "first pick" Premier League matches, so will be able to deliver a more attractive offer than previous competitors to Sky; and with a more modest offer to Sky Sports, and bundling of it with Fibre, they should be able to significantly undercut the entry-price of Sky Sports.

BT intend to sell directly to the public on Sky's platform as well as their own. Judging by the public name-calling that's been going on between Sky & BT in the past few weeks, the "spat" should be entertaining in itself.:)

    Hi Blackburn,

I am around 6 weeks after cancelling my sky after having 12 months 1/2 price. TV only.
Is it worth calling to ask if any offers are available? if so what number or department should i contact?
Only interested in half price though.
    Thanks

    Hi Blackburn,

I am keen to take up MSE's 50% off offer as I am moving at the end of May but seeing as the code expires on May 2nd would there be any issues with my signing up but arranging for installation 3 or so weeks later?

I've just signed up with the 50% offer and put a moving date of 23rd May, all went through fine with installation booked for the 24th, so you shouldn't have any issues.

08442 414141 then not sure which number for retentions, worth a try.

In our department we don't have any 50% off atm. Others perhaps might though.
  • Hi Blackburn,

Thank you for posting on here, it is always good to get to see the point of view from the inside of a company that I am a customer of.

I have contacted the customer call centres in Cardiff bay and Falkirk recently, each time I was sent a email the following day with a survey about my experience of contacting Sky and the individuals who helped me. Each time I gave glowing feedback as I had been helped and had nothing but praise for the customer service and polite, helpful response I received. But I am wondering what happens to this feedback that I provided and if it helps the individual employees I spoke with and felt did a great job. Can you give any insight into this? Thank you.
