Parking issue with neighbours

Theres nothing wrong with parking outside someone elses house though. It seems like his answer of 'whatever' was quite appropriate, although it could have been better worded. I had someone threaten my car in a similar way once for parking outside their house. I simply told them what I'd do if I found my car damaged and unsurprisingly they left it alone.
Blocking a driveway however is an offense. Just call the police/council and have the vehicle towed. I'm sure once they're forced to pay the large costs involved they'll park elsewhere.0 -
Yes it was carer sorry. What I've learnt most from it happening to us is that getting stressed about it solves nothing. Ask him to move take dogs into house then knock again and wait and hopefully he will come out. Not so easy when you got baby and shopping etc to cart in the house too thoughHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

If you can't get *off* your drive, you can call the police (or the council, not sure which one but someone with more brain cells than me will probably clarify) and they will arrange for the blocking vehicle to be moved, but this doesn't count if you can't get back on.
Yup, I did this and it worked a treat. A PCSO came round within 20 mins and knocked at the neighbour's house relentlessly (Sat afternoon) until they dragged themselves out of bed and moved the offending vehicle. It's never happened again in the 4 years since.
What is it with people - are they jealous, are they spoiling for a fight, do they feel they have to annoy others on principle ?0 -

Nope, just stupidity. Never underestimate how incredibly thick some people can be. Trouble with thick people is that you have to go to their level for them to get the message!0 -

Not sure what goes through what they use as a brain, the other day whilst our road was 90% empty, there was a parked vehicle outside my house and a parked vehicle outside next door, nothing else for hundreds of yards, between are two driveways with "dropped kerbs", A small pick up truck arrived and I watched him parallel park over both driveways, I went out and said, if you leave that there I will call the police and have it removed for obstruction, his reply, "get on with it then", I said the whole road is empty why parallel park?, he just repeated "get on with it then".
I went back in, looked out of the window and before I could pick up the phone he moved it to in front of the vehicle outside next door, the house he was going to, mentality nil.

That is true. I'd never block someone's drive etc but it annoys me in terraced streets etc when people have signs up when they have no more right to the road than I do! So I would park there just to prove a point. I know I'm a saddo!I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."

Hey had a little skim through the thread... but need a little advice. I know blocking a driveway is an offence but what about blocking access to my car?
I recently had an incident with my neighbour where she was parked so close to the driver side door it was impossible for me to get into the car. I have a back injury so climbing over the passenger seat was not an option. On requesting the car in question to be moved over a little the woman refused. Is this breaking any laws? Its a private car park so I know it would be a civil matter.
Some sort of obstruction law perhaps? Any replies would be great...thanks0 -
I think it's obstruction of the highway or some similar piece of legislation. Try ringing the police.

I'd be inclined to phone the police on 101 as she's blocking access to your property and has refused a reasonable request to move the obstruction.0 -

I definitely will do next time. It just seems such a petty thing to call the police out for!
I have video footage of her deliberately parking this close even though the car park is empty.
