Flight 705 My hero0 -
OK, I admit my sample size is only one flight. It's what happened though. The gate crew made everybody weigh at the gate before they passed them through, that's fairly normal, on this occasion though the passengers were not allowed to adjust or ditch anything, it was pay up or don't fly.
I'm just giving a 'heads up' in case it's a new general policy.
Not much sign of it on my Ryanair flight today. They didn't even get the cradle out for measuring the size of bags.0 -

Shame, that's always good entertainment.0 -
Ryanair staff are now checking all bags as passengers are actually boarding the aircraft, anything that's too large or overweight is charged the stiff costs they've laid down. They give no chance to adjust the luggage, it's pay up or don't fly.0

I suspect its a bit like the customs. They are that used to it and good at it that they can spot the "guilty ones" right away.
Those with nothing to fear sail by.0 -
The actual reality of this is that the only Ryanair staff you will see are the cabin crew, one of whom may be at the gate. The rest will be employed by a handling agent, though they might wear the uniform.
I'm told it is a constant battle with some agents to get them to enforce baggage rules, especially with on-line check in.
If the agent enforces the rules it might delay the flight and they get the blame, if they let things slide and a problem arises on-board with hand luggage the cabin crew (well the purser actually) get the blame!0 -
How about the Ryanair flight where they wanted to fly the baggage further than the passengers?

Please remain seated until the aircraft has stopped moving.....but sometimes people cant wait to stand up.......on these occasions if the plane has to stop very suddenly the passengers can fly further than the plane.........beat that!Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!0

I liked that tale!
The only time I've had a problem was when I booked from Zagreb to Heathrow on Croatia airlines, a beautiful sunny day in Croatia but a delay at Heathrow stopping us from taking off. 4 hours in the departure lounge at Zagreb. I had allowed myself 4 hours to get from Heathrow to Gatwick for my connection to Spain. Sod's law I think it's called, I ended up in a hotel in Crawley and had to buy another flight for two the next day. I did use Ryanair and went through Madrid in the end.
I'm glad my original post seems to be a false alert.0
