Not much sign of it on my Ryanair flight today. They didn't even get the cradle out for measuring the size of bags.

No sign of it on my flights from manchester to lanzarote and back last week. The usual can you please check your bag fits the cage but no weighing at all.

We flew out from BHX May lst and they were making everyone put their cabin baggage in the cages, I've only ever seen them do a random check before. Coming back, they didn't even glance at the cases .. but then, the flight was running late.
No weighing though - and I had packed for a week away with the correct sized case and only 7kgs (pats self on back and looks smug) :T
    Normal people worry me.

No one was stopped on flights from EMA and PMI last week. In PMI they were very relaxed - several went through with two bags and nothing was said.

I support enforcement of size limits on cabin baggage. Although Ryanair's size limit is lower than the IATA guidelines, most popular cabin baggage (Samsonsite etc) nevertheless complies with it. Some people are stupid and try to take suitcases as cabin baggage. However, I don't agree with the weight limit, which is not related to safety, otherwise all airlines would have this same 10kg limit. Easyjet has no limit and British Airways has a 23kg limit.

If I weigh 70kg and have 15kg in my 55x40x20cm case, why should I be a problem whereas the next guy who weighs 100kg and has 10kg in a 55x40x20cm case is not a problem?

Virgin provides inclusive hold baggage, so it's not a good comparison. With Ryanair, passengers are encouraged through pricing for hold baggage to take only cabin baggage. Easyjet is the better comparison to make.

    You have issues.
And clearly you are incapable of presenting a reasoned argument, hence you are resorting to personal abuse.

but you mentioned BA's 23kg allowance.

virgin may well "provide inclusive hold baggage" but thats only because it is factored into the overall price paid by every passenger. Ryanair of course could follow this business model but then everyone would pay a premium for a service they may not require.

More relevantly I first mentioned Easyjet's unlimited allowance, but you only partially quoted me. See what I wrote above.
