Ryanair, more flim flammery.

I don't know if this has already been mentioned elsewhere.

Ryanair staff are now checking all bags as passengers are actually boarding the aircraft, anything that's too large or overweight is charged the stiff costs they've laid down. They give no chance to adjust the luggage, it's pay up or don't fly.

It's only another step further but before you had a chance to ditch a few items rather than pay the excess fees

As a regular Ryanair flyer I am well aware of the bag restriction so I doubt i would never be in the situation whereby my luggage did not meet the criteria. Anyone flying with Ryanair should be aware of the carry-on luggage dimensions and weight.

Same here, but there's many holiday visitors that might think there would be a tiny bit of leeway they could get away with. There ain't :D

Is this based on anecdotal evidence?

No, it's based on what is happening at VLC from last week.

this does sound a bit dubious, whenever i have seen them weigh hand luggage they have always allowed people to do things like take a coat out and put it on to take it down to the right weight.

Well that's what I meant by anecdotal evidence. Your experience at one airport (and one flight?) is not evidence of any new policy.

How does this work? Do they have a cradle positioned at the top of the steps of the aircraft, front door and back?

If you decide to push the boundaries of baggage size, then make sure you go to the back of the queue.

It's your best hope of getting away with it.

I assume the OP meant it's done by the gate?

#1 Isnt that what they always do and isnt it broadly what most airlines do to some degree? When i am booking a flight i simply use an appropriate bag (size),pack it then weigh it on my digital bathroom scales. I am therefore compliant and dont have any issues. This goes for any flight. The last thing i want is to pitch up early in the morning at check in and have to stress about weight/size,unpack stuff, redistribute, pay money etc..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
