:staradmin Hi Everyone and Welcome to the May's 2013 Bankruptcy Club :staradmin

This club is for everyone who has gone or going through the process of Bankruptcy during May 2013. So please feel free to join and post.

Pop your name on here, the date that you went/are going Bankrupt. Then just keep everyone in the club updated throughout the next year about your BR journey. That way you can all stick together, compare notes and be there to support each other during the different stages of your Bankruptcies.

Remember this is your board so keep posting :hello:

Obviously anyone can come on here and post anything that will help and you are all welcome. Any important questions that need answering please still post them on the main board, as you will receive more advice and help.

~ Please do not include too much information as the IS (Insolvency Service) are known to frequent this forum and they may identify individual cases, so username and date only, thank you ~

    IF...x
A quick bump for the welcome message :)

  • Hi,

I won't bore you with a long story but here's my situation. Been divorced 4 years, have about 19K's worth of joint debt from various creditors, each of which I'm paying at £1 per month.

My ex has never paid a penny and refuses to acknowledge he owes the debt to our creditors - I've been honest and kept them up to date with my contact details and work situation.

Last year I was made redundant and since then have managed to keep a minimum wage job in retail working 16 hours a week while looking for full time employment.

I've not been arrears with my rent, council tax or bills and never missed a payment to creditors, however I've spoken to Stepchange charity and they advise bankruptcy.

I agree, I'm 60 next year and will never pay this off, but why is is so expensive to file for bankruptcy - I don't have £700!!!

    Thanks for reading...

    Hello

700 is a lot but you can fill a form to save some. Ex60 or something Stepchange told me about it.

    Good luck

Well I've filled in the forms as well as I can. Have most of the money ready just one more withdrawal to go. My accounts are empty and nearly all dds moved to my husbands account.

Could do with it being done in day and not wait till tues for a judge but it's better than waiting for a month.

I hope everyone is well wherever they are on the journey.

  • OR just called to introduce herself. She sounds nice & friendly just went over a few details.
Happy for my account to stay open with my bank which is such a relief , is calling later this month to go over SOA.
Still do not feel anything of relief, tearful & smiling , maybe a bit shocked I think.

Glad to hear that the OR sounded nice. I guess this will take a while to sink in.

  • Through the post I had my form , declaring my BR, so it's official. Also reassured me it won't appear in any publication , including the gazette , due to my history . Now I'm beginning to feel bit okayish.
I want to thank the support from the ppl on here. In my darkest days , you made sense of it , helped me & advised me .
It's made me see ppl in another way
    Bless you

    Hi halebirdy
Why not post this on the main forum, you should get some helpful suggestions there.

There is a sticky at the top of the forum listing charities who can help with BR fees, maybe have a look at that as well.

Good luck, hope things work out for you.

Sorry about the argument with DH, Keeping Positive, that's probably down to the extra stress you're under atm, I hope things straighten themselves out for you. You're right though, adversity makes us all stronger, you will get through this.

Glad today went OK, keeping my fingers crossed for you for Tuesday.
