  • Hooray - just received victory letter from Halifax!!!

    Went to the on-line court route having spent ages working out the interest etc. and in 2 weeks from doing that got the letter saying basically here's all your bank charges plus the interest plus the court fee!!!! Naturally the letter states that there is no admission of liability but the money will be transferred in the next 5 working days; and can i withdraw the court claim upon receipt of the bucks (nearly £750)

    Big thanks to Martin Lewis and MoneySavingExpert.com !!!!!!!!!

    Just waiting to hear about my other Halifax account's claim, also on-line court case. That's over £3000, fingers crossed!!!

  • Having just checked my bank a/c I found I had £500 ++ credited to my a/c.
    Hadn't had a reply to my LBA so rang and was told a letter had been sent out today, but he couldn't say how much the offer was for, well I can guess!!
    If I am not happy with the sum when the letter arrives tomorrow, I am to give them a call.
    Well looking forward to tomorrow as I am claiming £1215.00 so guess my offer will go up to £900 approx.

    Hi to all,
    Just some information that you might like to know about. My sister was with the Halifax, but as soon as she sent them the first two letters from this site about her claim they Wrote to her asking her for her bank card and Cheque book back as they were closing her account. about 3 wks later she recieved a letter offering her £310 out of the £750 she was claiming for.
    She called them up and spoke to a very nice man about the offer she had recieved, he said it was half(well almost) of what she was claiming, which is standard procedure, she asked what would happen if it went to court and they said basically the chances of her winning were very slim, and then in the next instance offered her £500. So i think he was telling a few porkies there, she took the £500 as it wasnt much different to the amount they had actually taken of her without claiming the interest.
    So chin up all you people claiming and good luck
  • Since my last posting on this thread earlier today, i thought i'd ring halifax and said that i wasn't happy with their offer of £359. I spoke to the gentleman who wrote to me with the offer who said he could increase the goodwill offer to £500!! I'm happy with that...and it saves going through the court process (especially as the money will come in very handy now that i'm on maternity leave!). Thanks martin from a very happy lady...you're a star!!!:money: :beer: :T :j

    Hi, I sent a request for statements info to Halifax on 27th April 07. I finally received my statements on 21st June, a whopping 85 days after they would have received my registered post letter! I calculated that I paid £1250 in charges over 6 years. However before I even had the chance to send them the 2nd letter asking for my money back I received a rejection letter from them dated 24th June! How can they reject me when I haven't acutally asked them for anything yet!!!!??????????? Anyone else had this happen. Interestingly on 20th I contacted the Ombudsman and passed the complaint over to them because Halifax had been so crap at handling the situation!
  • I have just called HBOS after getting the 'you are getting nothing letter' the guy I spoke to said that this is a standard letter they send out, it is only when you ask for re-evaluation that it goes to a manager 7 you get something specific to your account - can anyone tell me if you can calim £k in Scotland in a single court action?
  • the above should have read 3£k

    I'm claiming £7,438 with interest from Halifax. I've followed the steps from requesting statements throught to letter threatening further action. Rejected after 1st letter, sent 2nd ignored so sent 3rd and contacted FO. Cheque arrived for £2,700 in answer to letter 2, contacted FO to inform - they are going after the rest should be resolved in another 3 weeks.
  • Hello all, this is my first post on this fab forum.I requested my statements from HBoS on 2nd March and it took them until 25th June to send them out to me. Then there was a whole year missing and i complained and it took until last Thursday 19th July when the local branch gave me a print out of 5 months of the missing year. I accepted that this was all I was getting and sent off the request letter for over 5k in charges. I received a letter this morning stating that they had investigated and what they were doing was legal!! and they were declining my offer. I read all your threads and telephoned the customer relations team and have been advised that I will have an inital offer within two weeks probably sooner.How do I start legal proceedings if the bank don't give me a suitable offer?CheersKat
