I'm with the Halifax and I sent my letter asking for a statement of charges on May 17th. I have had two automated letters saying that due to the volume of similar requests there would be a delay but, I would have my list of charges within 40 days of receipt of my letter. I am thinking that this is a bank that can't add up! I make it that I should have had my details on or before the 26th of June and it has now been 69 days since my request. The positive side is that I have not had any kind of letter declining.
My boyfriend's daughter applied and her charges were £2,800. she had an instant offer of £2,100 - which she is going to take - and all this was after I sent my letter in.
Time for some action from me now I think0 -
My husband is claiming £3,800 from Halifax. They declined; he sent them phase 2 letter saying would accept £3,500 without prejudice, and without interest. They wrote back offering £1,200.00 He wrote declining and persisting for full £3,800.00 They have now PAID IN to his account £2,000.00. When he questioned it, they said it was an admin error, but could stay there if he liked. Is this a new tactic anyone else knows about?0

Hi,
Is anyone else having problems getting the money in their account? I have been waiting in excess of 2 weeks now  , I phoned the 01977 627 244 today and was told that just today (funnily enough) they have changed their guidelines and it can take up to 4 weeks now. Does anyone know if this is true or if I should phone another number and ask them?
Thank you

"I know someone who works at HBOS sorting out people's requests to re-claim bank charges. There are some tight FSA regulations about replying to people within so many days of receiving their letter. As they are so swamped with requests the only way HBOS can meet this deadline (and avoid the FSA's wrath) is to automatically decline EVERY request in the first instance. This has been practise for a couple of weeks now."
"I am reliably informed that when this happens all people have to do is ring the number on the top of the letter and politely ask for the case re-evaluating. This will be done almost without question and, while it means waiting another 4-8 weeks, it almost guarantees an offer of around 50% of the total amount. It's up to the customer to argue it from then on. The key apparently is to be polite and reasonable to the person on the phone (after all, it's not their fault personally that the banks make these charges)."
"A trick for anyone who has not yet written to claim is to ask for an answer to a specific question. They will almost certainly not get this answer when HBOS responds and will therefore know the deline letter has been automatically generated, rather than being a specific response having considered the case - as it will purport to be."

I posted yesterday regarding my first decline letter.
I've just got off the phone to C/Rel. I was nice, pleasant and cracked a couple of jokes. She said that some people have claims in the region £14000:eek: She also told me they would make me an offer, i would hear from them at the latest by 13th Sept but that i would prob hear from them sooner. So it's just a case of waiting to see what my offer will be i suspect it will be the 75% of of my £425.0 -

You need to speak with the person in C/Rels and remind them that they have made an agreement with you and if they fail to keep to it, the court will take a dim view and they will incur expenses, interest... use all that. in the nicest possible way of course
A friend of mine has just had the same with Barclays. They made the offer to settle on the Friday , before court on the Tuesdayof last week. He accepted the offer, they promised to pay the money into his Barclays account by Wednesday. A week later on and they are now posting a cheque out to him, so they say....:mad:Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Oh dear, my story actually gets worse!! I phoned customer relations to check about the whole new guidelines for getting money back, funnily enough they did not mention that
BUT he said the amount I was claiming back was £2200 which is an amount I have never heard of as through the FO I have got £4000 and he said he could not find the letter from the FO that mentioned that amount. I am now waiting to hear from the FO........it's an absolute nightmare

Anyone else claimed on more than one account with Bank of Scotland? I have claimed off two accounts and, when I received my offer letter, it said I was to get a payout of ~£1383 on one account and ~£1000 on the other. My problem is I have received the £1383 but no sign of the money in the other account. I have checked account/roll numbers on the letter and they match up with my accounts. Anyone else experienced this and am I panicking over nothing?0
