i didnt need my statements as i had them all online (from the halifax).
i sent off my claim letter and within 2 weeks got the rejection letter.
i sent back my next letter stating a reply within 14 days which passed on friday.
should i phone the number on the letter or is it too late as i have responded with that letter?

We requested info about bank charges for the last 6 years. They have returned charges for only last 3 years, saying that pre-2004 charges will be sent under 'separate cover'.Is this a stalling tactic? What should we do? Continue with the claim, or wait to see if the rest of the charges info comes through?

Hi, I had the same thing, you will get your statements in a seperate batch shortly after the first statements. mine were about 3-4 days later.
  • I sent the nominal fee for information from the Halifax early in April and they haven't cashed it. Also, when I rang them they said they had been given 'official' permission for eight weeks as a deadline for providing information requested. When I checked with the Information Commissioners Office however I was told that this was not the case and it is a stalling tactic on the part of the bank. So far we haven't had any kind of letter response from the Halifax. The complaint latter goes to the the Information Commissioners Office today!!
  • right folks applied for charges back in march got letter declining yesterday so phoned up today as was very polite and the lady commented this saying its not her fault ,but most people are speaking to her like s*it and she also went on to say that as i had been so nice and waited so long she would get on it right away, a bit of manners goes a long way!! will keep you posted.

My 40 day statement request is due up next week, and I have a feeling that this date will come and go without any statements being sent. £10 CHQ still not cashed.

Any advice on contact numbers? I am unable to go in to branch due to working hours.

    Many Thanks

    Julie

It's like 'nice cop/nasty cop'!!! I've always felt that you acheive more by being polite but decisive; I like to have the moral high ground!!!:rotfl:

Have read through the advice on this thread but can't find anyone referring to Halifax CC. I want to request charges from them and not sure about the best way to go about it i.e. who to send letter to.

    Thanks

    Chrissie

  • on the initial statement request letter you are to put the banks address at the top of the letter, is this my branch address?

also from my experience of working in a call centre I can say politeness goes a long way

Hi all, just to confirm what the rest of you have been saying about being polite. I recently received an offer from HBOS in settlement of my full charges and interest through the FOS and have been phoning over the last week or so to try and find out when it will be credited to my account. Each time being told that my acceptance had not yet been scanned up onto their system. Eventually spoke to a very helpful lady today who advised me it had now been officially scanned onto the system and my money would be credited into my account and that it usually takes 14 working days. I of course was a bit disappointed to wait even more time for MY money and the lady advised me that as my patience and politeness had been noted each time I phoned to query this claim they would make it 14 days instead of 14 working days so should be in my account round about 12th June. I will wait and see if this is the case and obviously pop back and let you all know. Keep up the good fight and even when you think you are getting nowhere plod on as my claim was first filed in January. Hope this is of some use to you guys.
