The girl I spoke to said they would be able to re-evaluate it and we should hear soon. Ive heard that, withinn 4-6 wks they offer you half. Im annoyed though as I first waited patiently the first 40 days, and now have to wait another 8 wks.

No knockback letter ut no reply to recieveing statements after about 4 weeks - is this normal? Also need to approach LLoyds but seems that people are having ots of problems there? Is it worth trying to claim when I have debts with them that I'm trying to sort out?

At the moment yes, most banks are snowed under with the ever growing wave of claimants.

I would have thought it more important you sorted out your claim whilst sorting your debts. The monies you claim back could be used to offset some or all of your outstanding debt with the bank.
Hamsters have no tact and diplomacy, nor do they want any.
  • I'm still waiting for them to repsond to my first letter, but for the past couple of months (within which I was charged £82 for going overdrawn for 1 day) I have recieved electronic notification and letters, therefore the bank did nothing. What cost should I try and reclaim? they charged me 2 x £30 for 2 DD's that went out and £22 for the letter (electronic).???

I sent a letter to halifax on 31.3.07 recorded delivery. They signed for it on 3.4.07. Rang them on 18.5.07 nd was advised that they would be requesting my details and i should have the info shortly (i received a DSAR number from the lady i spoke to).
40 working days is up on 29.5.07 so rang again yesterday (0845 72 53 519) and was advised they have never received my request. When i advised of a DSAR number she said she had never heard of DSAR number. They would put in a further request but that would take another 8 weeks.Told them that wasnt good enough and they replied it was the only thing they could do!!!!!!

I think they are giving me the run around

Think i am going to go into my branch and complain with the proof that they have received my original letter

Any advice would be appreciated as i am a newbie at this and cant even get past the first hurdle
  • Just thought I would let you all know. We received a rejection letter to our claim, and having just read this about it being a standard letter my husband rang the number on top of the letter. He was very polite and just stated the claim number and asked if the rejection could be reconsidered. The gentleman was very helpful and said "Yes sir no problem, I will forward your claim indicating that you have rejected our letter and put it forward for a view to settle out of court" So fingers crossed. We will let you know what or if anything happens. This is obviously worth a try though.
  • Joruss,

Don't know if you have already done this, but we sent a letter to both our branch and to the Customer Relations office. The address is (Halifax plc, Customer Relations, PO Box 548, Leeds, LS1 1WU). We received a reply really quickly from Leeds but never got anything from our branch. Even though there time limits in replying were quiet long we did always receive replies and updates thoughout the 8 weeks.

    Hope this helps. Good Luck.

hi jo, any letter put in branch is automatically forwarded to the leeds office, they are not able to deal with requests re bank charges in branch, thats why you only recieved a reply from leeds. I just took my letter in branch and they automatically sent it using internal mail so got a really quick response. hope that helps. I got the rejection letter within 2 days and phoned samed day for re-evaluation. waiting game now.
