I am in shock as to the amounts that some of you guys have been charged!
Chris6111 was charged £10 and glynev was over £6k and those are over 6 years so that is some amount to be charged per year!
How did you guys cope with losing that maount in the first place?
I have my Halifax account for just over 3 uears and my charges only totalled £400 inc interest!
I did have a student account with First Trust before that so had free banking.
When i look at it now if you get your full charges it seems like a really good way of saving money as you more or less have had the charges money put away over these years and are now reimbursing them plus interest!
Nearly wish they had charged me more!!0 -
Hi all,
sent my initial letter on april 19th and got a rejection letter this morning.
Just phoned number at top of letter and asked for it to be re-evaluated.
Guy said replky in 8 weeks,i explained that wasnt good enough and that the 8 weeks was almost up.
He then said he would mark it as urgent and i will be getting an offer through post no later than tuesday.
Also said if i wasnt fully happy with offer then i could phone and "haggle"
Hope this helps0 -
I have heard from somebody I know very well who is now working as a contractor dealing with claims at HBOS that they are constantly recruiting new people on a daily basis almost. The person who I have received this info from is working through an agency for around £175 per day! Apparently the pressure is immense there and a lot of people don't make it. They seem to have heavy targets to meet. Just thought I'd share this snippet with the forum.Halifax WON! Claimed £1549 on 8th Jan 2007, Settled for £1350 on 29th Jan, Paid 7th Feb.
MBNA (Virgin / Alliance Credit Card charges): WON! Claimed £419 on 17 March, finally offered £425! on 5 June)
Natwest Credit Card: WON! Claimed £250, got 100% + interest + court costs too.
Northern Rock: Mortgage Discharge Fee: WON! Claimed £100. Offered £90 and accepted it.
Natwest Bank / RBS: WON! Claimed £400. Got 100% + interest + court fees back.

hi all,
just a bit of advice please....
claiming just over 2k on behalf of the wife. sen original letter end of march and had the usual 8 weeks.... they investigated and said not paying out. rang the number on the top of the letter and asked for the claim ro be re-evaluated around 25th May. Sent letter 30th May saying pay up or else... Spoke to someone earlier this week and they said they have received my letter and are looking into it. He also said that the claim had been escalated. What exactly does escalated mean?
Am i any nearer to getting an offer, if so, how long and how much is the norm?
cheers

evening folks
its good to hear lots of you are gettin refunded but all i seem to get is fobbed off. received rejection letter on 21st of may and spoke to halifax later on that day to have claim re-assessed and have heard nothing since. twice rang for update to be told it will be 8 weeks from date of re-assement request (still unsure if this is true or not). called them today to advise not ahppy with lenght of time taking to deal and will be lodging complaint with FO, only to be given their telephone number and that they have logged that i will be doing this. nothing i try speeds up the process. dont have the cash to take them to court. will try FO later on.
any suggestions?

Believe me ,
There has got to be a better way of saving money.
I am looking for a refund on 2 accounts, totalling approx. £5500.
The pressure we were under during the time of these charges (mostly 2003/2004) was unbelievable. We haven't had a holiday in about 10 years, and were constantly robbing Peter to pay Paul! We have a good going business, and have had a constant income for 25 years, however most charges were due to waiting on cheques clearing on the ancient clearing system. My 8 weeks are up at the weekend, so waiting patiently for the postie to come each morning with an offer. If not satisfied, I intend to hand my case to FOS.0 -
K1mmie,
My bank is Halifax/Bank of scotland and i took the 8 weeks from the first letter i sent (april19th).
Guy defo said il have an offer by tues and i can negotiate if i think its not enough0 -
We're getting nowhere fast!
90 days have now past sine the initial charges breakdown request, the wife spoke to the correct Dept. on Monday whom said they could print off and send out the last 3 years of charges, still not had them.
She said to my wife that the 3 years over and beyond the ones she could do had been ordered again, this after receiveing a letter nearly 3 weeks ago telling us they had been ordered!
We're beginning to think that we'll never get anywhere.
I'm considering writing a letter about going to Court to claim an unknown amount, can anyone advise me further on this process please?
I'd rather write a 7 day letter tomorrow and get the charges description in 7 days and then simply file for them all back with MCOL than even bother telling them I intend to do so, there is no law that states I must inform them of intent to claim, it is up to them to settle once receiving the Court documents.
That entitles them to make an out of Court settlement.
I will, of course, to simplfy matters confirm that without further notice to them I will begin Court proceedings.
Is there anyway of persuing the bank for their failure to provide the relevant information within the time period set down?
Cheers.

Is it worthwhile trying to phone them even if you have started the court process as I have to wait until August to see if they are even going to defend?0
