Another vote here for a bait station.
We bought a twin pack and put both stations under the cabinets behind the kickboard - we didn't see another ant in the house all summer0 -
Hi. Does anyone know the best way to get rid of ants in the kitchen. These are in my partner's kitchen and it is an old stone terraced cottage. This is the first time the problem has arisen in the 3 years he has lived there. There seems to be a hole at the base of the kitchen/dining room door frame where they are coming and going but we assume they must then be going underground from there, possibly into a capped-off celllar. About a week ago I bought a product called Nippon which is a liquid in a tube and, at first, the ants did seem to be devouring it but they seem to have lost interest now and if anything the numbers visible seems to be increasing. It did say on the tube 7-10 days but am starting to doubt if it is going to work. I welcome any suggestions.0

If you have an hour or 2 to spare and want to do it the humane way you can leave some food out for them - some sugar or honey or something - then wait until an ant finds it. When one finds it it leaves a pheremone path there that the other ants then follow. Get a piece of paper and put that in the way so the ants walk on to it, then carry them outside and release them. Repeat until there are no more ants.
Alternatively you can get a non repellant ant killer / insecticide the ants carry it back to their nest and kill everything.0 -
some years ago i lived in a house that would get ants about every april may....they were everywere,,i put ant powder down and ant traps..which got rid of them..after that before ant season started i used to put ant powder around the bottom of all outside walls..looked a bit unsightly seeing white powder everywere but they never came in again after that......0

Have you tried ant powder, acouple of years ago we had this problem, and i poured a liberal amount all around the outside perimeters of the house, and then some more, the idea is that they crawl through the powder and take it back to their nests and kill the rest of them.
The ideal theory is to actually find the nest and deal with that but i have never found a blumming nest yet.
I hate them with a vengance. they make the skin on my head crawil, I panic when i see a pile of them together.
Hope that helps a little.
Anniemake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Boiling water is good if you can find the source. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Oh that would give me great satisfaction to burn the little sods, looked everywhere but cant find the nest, could it be under the floorboards??If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of car payments.;)

I wouldn't pour water down between your floorboards, there may be live cables there...more likely that they're coming in from outdoors because your house is a food source. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
