Ants getting into the house! (merged threads)

Options
Ants have been getting into the house for the last 2 weeks, I have put down Ant powder right along the wall of the house to where we see the ants (but don't see many outside).

They seem to come from under the kitchen unit/laminate floor/skirting but can't see where from.

I haven't tried anything else apart from powder so just asking if there are any good devices available.

Thanks

  • I was given a plug in pest repellant last year. I used to get ants in my kitchen (sometimes flying ants) but since having this plug in, I havent seen one. Its supposed to get rid of all sorts of creepy crawlies, and to be honest I havent seen many about since having it! Its environmentally friendly too, and does'nt affect dogs, cats, birds etc. The down side is theyre expensive to buy. Ive had a quick look around the net and can't find one like mine, but found this link which has several at different prices. Hope this helps!! :o

Ant Pens are wicked. Just draw a line and they will not cross it. We had them coming in from everywhere and an Ant Pen saved us!!

Try wilko, they do an ant stop, bait station. Small round black disc shaped thing with no visible liquid. We live on a hill( I am sure it is just one great big ant hill!! lol). Anyway, every year without fail we have ants in the house, I put a new ant stop down, and never see one again till next spring.

I used Nippon and it worked first time.

    information below :

    Nippon Ant Killer Liquid

Controls common black ants in and around the home
Nippon Ant Killer Liquid is a sugary bait formulation designed to attract worker ants to take the bait and feed it to the whole colony. This product is particularly useful when the nest site is unknown or inaccessible.

Apply: At the first signs of ant activity. (Normally early spring)

    How to Use:

    Remove readily available foodstuffs.
Pierce the tube and apply a few drops of liquid, preferably in late evening, to a non-absorbent surface by the ant run.
Change the bait daily until ant activity ceases.
Do not disturb feeding ants as it is essential that feeder ants take the bait back to the nest to the rest of the colony.
An effective dose is usually built up within the colony over 7-10 days depending on the size of the ant colony and the frequency of ant feeding.

I think that the good thing about the Ant pen is it does not kill them. They will not cross the line, and stay out, but they do not die. Which I think is nice.
