seller sent an item by my hermes

It's very poor communication for an item to arrive via a different method to the one advertised without warning - I left low DSR stars for communication for a seller who sent an item recorded when it stated standard delivery in the details, as it meant a trip to the sorting office for me to colelct the item.
I don't know if I made mypoint clear enough about this. It is eBays system which is not flexible enough to show that the seller uses different shipping methods for different situations.
Suggesting a seller inconvieniences you by sending recorded - well, all experienced sellers will protect their business by adding tracking and or signature as the value of the order goes up.
The buyer adds items to their order or puts the quantity up - they cannot expect the delivery method to stay as un-signed for.
You can include small print in the advert to this affect but eBay's system doesn't allow what you are asking for.
I think there is a little bit of wishfull thinking going on.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Your statutory rights are not affected.0 -
But, if you say you will use Royal Mail, you cannot then change the provider, yes you may need to adjust the service used, but never the provider.0

I've yet to find one called "Other Courier".

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean?
I thought the OP ordered from a seller quoting Royal Mail and they used Hermes.0 -
It doesn't matter, I was playing Devils Advocate.
There is a postage option "other courier" on eBay. My point here is there are lots of things buyers would *like* sellers to adhere to, but in all practical reality, there are many reasons, logistical, financial, for contingency and others why sellers may switch, and my key point is that if a buyer buys one item it could go by Royal Mail, and if they sellect quantity "10" it may need to go by another provider and the functionality in eBay is not sophisticated enough for this.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. The functionality of a seller should be though.;)
An email takes a few seconds to send to ask if they are ok with it.0 -
I gather you are not a large business seller with that comment!!!An email takes a few seconds to send to ask if they are ok with it.
Your first job each morning then, email 200 people and ask if they are ok with something, then as the replies come in tie them up with orders by putting notes on them, then spend the afternoon chasing up the ones which didn't reply.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. So, you routinely have 200 items needing a change of delivery method?0 -

No, ... but you can't engineer a process that only works on good days.

So, you take the extra time to do it right on the occasions it is needed.0
