    Ok, as she has a few days off, is she actively looking for a replacement rather than leaving it to the last minute?

    She will also have to tell her insurance company that the car is going back.

    If she is within the cooling off period she may get all get money back or she may be able to transfer it to the new car.

    Dont forget to take the tax disc off the thing as well if she bought new tax for it as thats 'hers' and the refund can only be issued to the registered keeper (assume she has the new keeper part of the V5).

    Ok another update.
    They told daughter they need car back today but they'll give money back tomorrow. Daughter said no, She'll take it back tomorrow and get money back tomorrow and said she doesn't trust them.

    She's not actively looking for a car yet as she wants to look in her home town but she is in MK with the trash car at the moment.
    She has had 2 offers from people to take her out to look once she's back here, and has mention RAC and AA (which I'd told her anyway)

    I hope they are refunding the cost of the tow truck.

    Thats changed now Vaio.
    She's going back tomorrow with the piece of metal, they are looking over it (don't know why) then daughter will watch them transfer the money into her account. Daughter said the tow bloke is coming in with her to make sure.

    How are they doing the transfer? BACS or a refund to a debit card?

    Your daughter will need to triple check that her bank has the money in her account before she leaves and that the transfer steps are fully completed so they dont make it look like they did (when they didnt) and or reverse it afterwards.

    Yes just spoke to daughter, she confirmed tow man will talk to the garage people and will stay with her while transfers being done.
