So today is the day. What is the plan of action? Work one out and stick to it.

If they try to mess you about, etc. then log a complaint with trading standards/VOSA and do not leave them the keys, V5, etc.
  • I see Google has the location marked as 'Dunstable car disposal'. Rigsby can you also, for future purchases, inform her what Cat D means in an advert. I get the impression you may not know either, basically it's been written off by an insurance company: http://www.whatcar.com/car-advice/running/what-is-cat-d-/3487412
It doesn't take much to write off a low value car but when it comes to buying then there isn't really any need to buy one when they often don't offer much of a discount over a 'straight' car.

No i didn't know what Cat D was. I will have to see if daughter saved the add on the comp to see if it is the same one.
TBH before the car broke down i was going to report the car to the police, & Vosa myself to get it of the road but then it broke down and now it looks like shes getting all but £250 back i was happier with that. As for taking the keys away, she is actually an adult, how many people want to control adults (Offsprings or not) you can offer opinions, advice, tell them what best to do but as for controling an adult I'll have to disagree.
I mentioned everything here to her including small claims court but she is due back to work soon and needs a car. IF this was MY actual situation i would have gone for small claim court and got everything back possible, but it hasn't been all i can do is try help her do the right thing.

You say you cannot control an adult but my son is 18 and I would not have let him go down the path your daughter has taken, and i would be reporting it to VOSA over his head.

i still hope it ends well though

CAT D slipped in the middle as if it's an optional extra lol
  • Not sure I would agree with such a high estimate, I used to be into the 'modding' scene and found my insurance was actually a lot lower with the cars modded, through specialist companies like Chris Knott and Adrian Flux. I remember paying £265 on one policy when I was 25ish.

mods dont decrease the price, it raises it with insurers or the policy remains the same, you dont get discounted even with flux and the likes of.
it was guestimate based on most 17-21 year olds pay well over £2000 per year for a standard unmodded fiesta 1.3 this one is a 1.4 higher in insurance bracket.
