A blood sugar reading of between 4 & 7 is normal not diabetic
I know there is a new system now but I have the old meter and I was told that 5.5 and under is not diabetic so I've been following that because it's been working for me for the last 2½ years. Thanks for the information though but I'm too afraid to let it go higher than what I was told at the time. I know hubby can be 8 and over but he is on tablets for his. I've been keeping it at 4 point odds most of the time but it jumped to 5.9 the day following 3 teaspoons of honey and the next day again it fell back to 4.8. I was told by my GP after 2 blood glucose test, the second one fasting and I was borderline at 6.0 or 6 point something so just trying my best to keep it below 5.5. I know the figures you give are for the old system also. Is the new system up and running now? I know the figures are higher now or graded differently but not sure how. Cheers.
Just checked and found the following on www.diabetes.co.uk:
Recommended target blood glucose level ranges
The NICE recommended target blood glucose levels are stated below alongside the International Diabetes Federation's target ranges for people without diabetes. [19]NICE recommended target blood glucose level rangesTarget Levels
by Type Before meals
(pre prandial) 2 hours after meals
(post prandial)Non-diabetic 4.0 to 5.9 mmol/L under 7.8 mmol/LType 2 diabetes 4 to 7 mmol/L under 8.5 mmol/LType 1 diabetes 4 to 7 mmol/L under 9 mmol/LChildren w/ type 1 4 to 8 mmol/L under 10 mmol/L
diabetesSorry it's slightly messy as it didn't hold the table format but I've put it into the correct columns and double checked it. Once I save it, it then doesn't hold the spacing so the first figures are before meals and the second figures which say 'under etc' are 2 hours after meals. It looks as if I was told to keep it under 5.5 just be on the safe side as that would allow a little bit of leeway. Thanks for your help."For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone."0 -

The biggest error people make is to actually be taken in and pay the stupid price. Costs no more to produce than so-called 'normal' honey and no better. Don't be conned people!
Could you just expand on the production process and associated costs in sourcing the honey? Becauce if you are right then you have just stumbled across a huge con.
All this is assuming that you know what you're on about0 -
It also helped solve a coughing issue with our young son, I always use it when I'm ill. Seems like amazing stuff!0

I am a huge user /supporter of all honey both local and manuka.
I use local honey for hay fever related issues and on a daily basis for my children.
When they are feeling tired or a little run down I give them the aldi manuka in their sandwiches to pep them up a bit . If they have sore throats I give it to them off the spoon.
If they are really unwell with temp etc I give them high umf 10 + honey and find this often nails the virus.
Also used some manuka on a corn on my sons foot and the whole thing stabbed over and fell off a few weeks later.
I will always use it on my kids as I truly believe it stops secondary infections and peps them up when under the weather0 -

Producing manuka honey is no different than other honey: bees - nectar flow - collection - evaporation - honey - extraction - packing - etc. The producers may be moving the hives to where the plants are for the flow but so is the case for heather honey, lavender honey etc and the price differential on those is not extortionate
there is no reason for it to cost more than other honey, it's not that special, well no more than honey itself is special - marvellous stuff :j0 -
Asda have the 10+ standards jars for £7.00 It doesn't look like this is a special offer either0

I went to H&B to buy 10+ and in my local branch couldn't find any that was on penny sale as only some of manuka's are. They had some brand's of 10+ available but not on sale. Went into another branch and the one that was on the sale in my local branch but was sold out, in another branch was available but it wasn't on the sale. I think H&B is doing this deliberately.0

I use honey in my tea now instead of sugar and have got used to it to the point of not liking the taste of sugar in my tea at all...
I do use any honey though but prefer the taste of some more than others
The latest I am about to try is a budget one but still looks good ; http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00A4C3XJO
( I actually got them for £8.96 on subscribe & save , so just £2.24 each )
Since I have been taking honey every day I find I get MUCH less colds and nasties and it is only if I fully run out for a while I notice things like sore throats coming back again - So back on the honey I go ASAP!xx

Forgive me, as I am a newbie, but having read this thread, I thought this section was about finding bargains? If you don't believe Manila honey works then don't buy it. If you believe it does, then get it for the best price possible surely?0
