Active Manuka Honey 6+

Manuka - the bees get the pollen off Tea Tree plants. You can't take Tea Tree internally BUT you can take Manuka - the extra benefits come because of the Tea Tree. Evidence shows that Active Manuka is far more effective than ordinary honey because of its special qualities from the Tea tree plants.
In Australia during the war people working in the Tea Tree plantations didn't do service as their work was essential to the well-being of the soldiers - everyone was given Tea Tree in their kit-bag.
ALL honey has great properties but Manuka has been proven to be far more effective than most.
I totally agree for allergies that you are FAR better off with a local honey or use a few grains of local pollen.
For sore throats - I used to get horrendous septic throats, every year for over 30yrs at least 2-3 times a year, where the back of throat was threaded yellow. Always had to have 2 lots of anti-biotics and normally 2 courses to get rid of it. Over 15 years ago someone told me "the cure" and I've never had one since. I bless the lady frequently.
OK cure for sore throats - at first sign gargle with tea tree - about 5 drops in 20ml of warm water. Spit out. Do this 2-3 times a day. Next get yourself some Bee Propalis - the capsules are FAR better than tablets. Depending on severity take 1-2 X1000mg capsules 3 times a day for 5-7 days - just like anti-biotics. You can also use the Bee Propalis liquid if you'd prefer.
I always have Bee Propalis, Tea Tree and Manuka in the house. Propalis you can use for any infection. In 15 years I've had anti-biotics just 3-4 times in total as I use at the first sign of any problems.
I buy up Manuka honey when it's on REALLY good offer. Last few I bought in either Lidl or Aldi - they may stock it normally now but I bought when it was around £3.50 on a 1 wk special and Sainsburys went up to £7.50 (more like £10 now because so many know the benefit).
It'll keep - they found honey still useable in Egyptian tombs. If the damned pharmaceuticals had their way they'd market it and not allow us to buy off the shelves easily. I used to work for one and don't fall for their often hype and disdain of natural products - their drugs initially all came from natural products.0 -

Not all pharmacist have that attitudeI have arnica tablets of various strengths and cream always is the house we keep bottle of echinacea and I have aloe Vera plants on the window. There's a few other ones I keep around too. I gave up pharmacy years ago and remember the days of boxes of 100 paracetamol its all money now
I've not tried the honey yet but I am certainly open minded enough to give it a good try plus I will look around for local honey as I've been tested positive fir grass and tree pollens at a low level.
This has been an amazing thread I've learnt so much.0 -

Now it takes forever to get past the hype & sales patter. Having trained as a microbiologist the effectiveness of manuka against most other antibiotics was astounding - looking at the agar plates - which I'm well used to using.
Try looking at Christie hospital where they use on cancer patients.
It KILLS MRSA - one of the few really effective treatments. It also CURES acid reflux - I cured myself of dreadful acid reflux by using instead of those AWFUL prazoles that can cause lots of problems including very bad hip problems. Specialist told me to put bed up on bricks at top end - REALLY! It's a shame that so many people including specialists rely on pharmaceuticals to MASK the problem. Manuka CURES it instead of masking it!
HOWEVER Active 6+ is NO good. You do need active 10+ or better. Active 10+ works on just about everything but active 5+ or 6+ does nor have enough MF factor to be really effective.
Fully agree! Some ppl are idiots!! My nephew has leukaemia he's 9! My mum is a manager at holland and Barrett and last month I got a call from my sister in law saying he was in bad way his tongue had swelled, his skin was peeling etc. I rang my mum who said this honey I went and got some .. It soothed him and cleared in a day... Highly recommend this stuff.. I use it for toothache I rub it on and it numbs it.. Don't comment unless u have something good to say mr negative.. Ppl like you annoy me as if they listened to u they wouldn't use it.. And ppl like my nephew wouldn't try it and find it works!0 -
Wish I'd known this before last week when i was horrendous pain from a throat and ear infection, have some manuka 12+ in the cupboard which i bought on offer from Costco as son loves honey.0

Aldi do a jar of Active 10 Manuka honey 250ml for £3.99. They always used to have the opaque type which my husband doesn't like but now they do the clear one:j0

I don't like the Aldi's one. Doesn't taste like manuka, it taste just like ordinary honey.0

Seriously you'd want raw manuka honey or local uk honey (even that has been proven to have similar benefit like manuka) as when they heat the honey to Pasteurise it to some extent it destroys the good stuff, also buy filtering really finely (which they do to make it clear in the jar) they remove the pollen and proposlis again known for its anti-bacterial properties.
Dont get me wrong im not saying this happens to all bottled stuff, as some are cold pressed which gives maximum benefit but it pays to do your research. But dont believe all of this marketing stuff, you do get what you pay for. The hospitals will be using the raw stuff.

I have a flare up of acid reflux at the moment which I've had for about two weeks. How do you take the Manuka for helping with this please - 3 times a day off a tea spoon, dilute in some warm water??
TIA0 -
What's recommended is a teaspoon 3 times a day (if possible 30 mins before a meal) Take it on a small piece of cooled toast or cracker - best not to take it as is - for some reason it seems to work better on say 1/4-1/2 a slice of toast.
What you HAVE to do is take religiously for 6 weeks at least - they say up to 13 wks. in order to fully kill off the H. Pylori bacteria.
It is really important to take 3 times a day on toast. I took myself off Omeprazole after just 4-5 days on Manuka but then I had a slight flare up a week later. Put myself back on the prazole & had the most horrendous regurgitations. I never touched Omeprazole again & have been acid free for years. Occasionally I'll take for a week now if I have ANY signs I might be coming down with it again.0 -
I've just bought some!! I had Amazon vouchers from Topcashback so 2 x 25+ 500g jars only cost me £1.60 in "real money", haha.
I feel so drained and awful, looking for a non-pharmaceutical answer....
My hubby has sore throats, I'll try WishI'dReadSooner's cure on him!0
