Does he sleep ever?
I have a senile old one I am wondering if I should 'let go' because of his near constant peeing in the house and worse. He yowls constantly and just drives me insane.. He is eating and does appear happy but I probably would be too if I got away with behaving like he does.
I feel for you it is a hard decision if they seem happy, I had the same problem with one of mine (she was 19) In the end I had to have her put downhad it been just me I would have kept her longer (she was such a friendly and loving cat). However she started having accidents in sons room so unfortunately that was the final straw. I could not take her to the vets, I just would not have been able to go through with it so a very kind friend of mine took her for me. I feel sad now writing this

Seriously- I can't believe I haven't seen this before now. My cat is a !!!!!!. Now I know I'm not alone!
OP- feliway did nothing for my cat but if you don't want to rehome I'd give it a try. Another thing my vet told me to do in places he's 'marked' is to put his food/ water there as he won't mark where he eats...0 -

sorry i havent read this thread fully so excuse the repeat of advise if possibly been advised earlier.
it does sound teritorial as adivsed (i read those bits) but could also be boredom, and frustration (not sexually but mentally) also one has to question is he being over stimulated! i.e he's craving attention, you give into him giving him a cuddle or chin tickle and then all ofa sudden goes on a funny 20 minites going nuts about the house attacking the female cat due to being a too shy a cat running up and down the stairs grabbing things and going wild on the floor, then claming down only to realise the other cats have now gone into hostile mode making him go into claiming territory over again and the fighting begins again again boosting his craving to be wanted and comforted.
if so then your giving hims rows making him stressed wich then makes him feel insecure and stressed and then opposition defiance disorder kicks in and he punishes you for giving him a row for something you unwittingly caused.
monitor closely his interaction with is felow housemates they may allow him to interact but do they play with him? if he's too boystrouse for them they maywell not tollerate him when his play mode kicks in, he then feels the need for interaction and play with you, over stimulating him and adding fuel to his frustration with the other cats he then finds the need to claim YOU his by claiming territory and warning the others YOUR HIS.
do you have a cat climing frame? they all can use to keep them clawing at the scratch posts and not your carpets, to allow them time to play as a group?
are the foods your feeding him adding to his mental state? i.e is the foods your giving him making him hyper.
the need to be with you and calling you tells me he is obsessive over you, wich is activating natural instinct to ward off any other cat from you by urinating as he cant spray as he's been done.
whilst in this state i would avoid catnip untill he has calmed and acclimatised to being at a calmer level.
there may also be a medical aspect to his behaviour such as over active thyroid, or certain house hold fragrances like airfreshners making his senses highten.
i would monitor him more closely looking for certain triggers to his behaviour.0 -
he sounds unwell. Please take him to a vet.0
