I hate my cat :(

Oh dear buttonmoon it sounds like you have a very dominant cat who is marking his territory and proving he is top dog !
Cats are creatures of habit and have you noticed that they still cry for food even if they have some left ?
Moving furniture around, new baby's or new pets can cause a cat to wee in front of you , cas are usually clean so if they start toilet ing around the house it's usually a behaviour problem or a medical one as cats can get really bad cystitis they can't tell you so strt weeping in front of you .
Has he been neutered ? If not that can cause the dominance problems
If I was you I'd all your vet practice for advice and hopefully you can solve his issues or rehouse him
Good luck :-)0 -
He actually sounds just like my female cat Florrie except about the peeing issue.
I have another cat called Raggy who is male and Florrie will take a swipe at him for no reason.
She constantly craves attention and has ruined carpets, rugs and furniture even though she has a scratching post ( ignores that )and all manner of trees and logs outside. She keeps coming in and out of any room I'm in dozens of times and starts yowling constantly and why???........because she wants me to watch her eat.:rotfl:
It's quite unusual for a male to be the dominant cat, usually it's the female. Your cat sounds like he is definitely pointing out who is boss in the house by marking territory and bullying the female whom he sees is the weaker cat. he sounds like he is quite unhappy and insecure. Feliway may be a good option, has your vet suggested anything??
Please try not to hate him, sometimes I scream at Florrie as she frustrates me so much but then I feel so guilty for shouting at her. Maybe when you get angry with your cat he thinks he's got your full attention.
Florrie can also be such a loving cat and craves affection, she actually gives far more back in the way of affection to me than my other cat.
Is there any chance of keeping your female and him separate for a while, maybe he gets jealous of any attention you're giving your female.
it may be that you have to rehome you as he may only be suited to a home with no other cats so he gets all the attention. Hopefully that will be a last resort.
I know how stressful it seems and I bet you constantly feel on edge with him but the fact that he can make you laugh at his antics and he obviously loves you offers a glimmer of hope.
Has the vet advised you about diet? Maybe his diet is causing behavioural problems.
Hope it all gets sorted.Onwards and Upwards0 -
i do think that there are some cats who should be the only cat in the household, that they just can't accept other cats being in the family.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500

What are you feeding them? One of mine is far more neurotic (though nothing like yours!) on the cheaper food with grain in it. He's now on the grain free stuff (Taste of the Wild or Orijen) and we had a massive change in behaviour - a lot less demanding for food as well - although we have our moments!0

We found the cat had sprayed higher than you'd expect, and we also found residue on the underside of the dining chairs. All kinds of stuff fluoresces under black light (including some detergents) but you will recognise the urine trickles - or dried up lakes in your case.
I wondered about the bad reviews and maybe this comment shines light on those: "If you have a puddle of pee this light won't find it. It will only detect urine which has dried. Top tip, use in the dark to make it easier to spot the fluorescence of the dried urine."
Also available: Carpet Injector Cap and Zorb It Up - I bought the sheets but never needed to use them.0 -
We bought a Blacklight after a strange cat started visiting through the cat flap. We thought we'd been thorough, but the smell lingered. My blacklight is not as impressive as what you see on CSI - but it did the trick. (Wish I'd seen the video - I have the less effective version - had to use it at night)

Surely if you have a "puddle of pee" you don't need a blacklight to find it, just look for the big puddle of pee:rotfl:The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

Kitty does sound very stressed indeed.
How many litter trays do you have? The rule of thumb is one tray per cat in the household, plus one extra (this goes up to two extra if over four cats in one household). So you will need four. Make sure they are scrupulously clean. I have five cats, and our trays are completely emptied twice a day (when we get up and when we go to bed).
If there is less than enough litter trays, this can cause stress and inappropriate toileting as a result. People are often unaware of how necessary this is.
Start using Feliway plug-in's (I have a spare plug-in*but I don't have the refill with it* that I'm happy to send to you if you like, because they aren't the cheapest things to buy as a full set) and spray in the areas that he most often frequents.
Catnip is brilliant too, invest in dried catnip leaves (the strongest you can find) and you can make your own toys with it. I tied some up in a baby sock for mine, and it lasted for months! Catnip spray on the scratching posts and beds.
Make sure there are plenty of places for the other cats to hide and be separate from each other, through the use of scratching posts, hidey boxes, cupboards they are allowed to go in, anything like that.
Hope you get it sorted x0 -
Is he allowed out?0

Get lots of catnip and drug the little Git.
My 18 month old is a bit of a knob where the older girl is concerned. Actually, he's just a bit of a knob all the time. But he is calming down. When he isn't having to be rescued from getting stuck behind the shed.
My old boy was obsessive about food and non food - he chilled out after a while though. Just keep locking chewable stuff up.
But when he was peeing in stupid places, he did have cystitis. I had to clean him with a Johnsons baby wipe each time he went and each time I walked past him and he miraculously stopped doing it. Didn't stop me feeling like a cat sex offender as he left it poking out to be wiped, though.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
