:smileyheaA huge thank you also
To PIPSMUM
She gave me a nudge about a wine offer for a certain shop which rhymes with al fresco
So we got the wedding fizz for 50% off a case plus 25% off when you order two cases - we needed six - hurray!
Then we got the lovely aunty chum who works at said shop to order it and get us another 10% staff discount off.
So the total savings were over £98 for six cases of rather fine (pink) fizz for our toast!
OK so its being delivered to England (as the offer isn't applicable in Scotland due to our licensing laws) but that's a minor technicality as Wik is taking delivery and popping upto Scotlandshire next week laden with wedding nonsense and now fizz.
I love it when a plan comes together.
Thanks Pipsmum! :ATotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Pippi, thats great! How nice to have Mr Me up there, not only will you both get more done, its nicer as well
I'm feeling a teensy bit sorry for myself - I was headed out to my mum's on Thursday morning, but couldn't hack it - very lurgified feeling that had my legs trembling and heart pounding, so I've been sleeping and resting (and eating) - am possibly on the turnaround now
You have magnificently priced pink fizz for the wedding! Well done! You have a very natural network of people all looking out for you that are helping you build something really special, I love it.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Oh KC I hope you're OK - sorry with the moving the DS and everything I just missed you didn't get away sorry.
I'm glad you're on the mend now.
Its lovely that folks are so kind and helpful - its very humbling.

Today its miserable - so its an admin at home day and maybe the pool later.
If we're good!
Quiet night in last night which was lovely.

Hello Pippi and all!
Finally, I have managed to catch up with you all! I lost track in the early summer, too much rushing about all over the country and too busy with family members at opposite ends of the age spectrum (1 and 92) and ever since then I have been panting along, trying to catch up but seemingly always about 5 pages behind. Now at last I've caught up - although I realise this may be because you are all too busy to post as much!
Anyway, very excited to read about the Welliefest preparations, and LOVE the wedding present orchard idea. About 20 years ago I remember reading about a couple who asked for contributions of trees to plant a wedding wood as their gift, and I loved that, I thought if I ever got married I would do something similar, but of course you need to be settled in one place for the long term (Obviously you also need to have the desire to get married!)
Loving all the rest of the MSE wedding plans too. And on a more mundane note, I confess I also have a list of what's in the freezer - saves wasting time and energy (yours, and the freezer's by letting all the cold air out) looking for something that you were sure was there.
Sorry for suddenly leaping in with a long rambling message and hello to everyone else, glad to be back!0 -

Deep sighs and hello's
Been a long few days - but the squall has finally stopped - why is the rain so depressing?
Banks then a catch up.
Despite the squeaky month - banks remarkably OK.
CC creeping up with mainly wedding related outgoings.
Food budget thus far not too bad.
Need to get a train booked for the weekend. (planning+gin)Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

OK so what would you do.
We've had a lovely chum send us an email to give us a tree. They sent me a link to a 'green' wedding gift site.
Its around £30 quid.
Beautiful but I can get the same tree (exactly the same) at a different 'non wedding gift' site for 3.99
Rowan by the way - nice sized - very bonnie - just in case you wondered
I've emailed the lovely folks and said did they mind if they didn't spend on the special wedding site but maybe put a donation into our 'wellyfestforest' account.
Do you think they'll be insulted - they are a lovely couple but you don't really want to critise folks for such lovely gestures.
But I can't stand by and watch them being ripped off either.
Feel a bit crap (in a preachy MSE way) but I'd feel awful if they were duped.

Pippi, are there any weddingy extras you or your friends might get at the special site?
Otherwise ... its you! They know you! They know you mean well, and they know you don't like yourself or anybody else to be ripped off. And you're not criticising them, you're asking for their wedding gift to be spent in a way that suits you - which is completely normal for weddings. And I suspect they know, otherwise they'd have bought you a voucher. Don't worry about it, really, don't. Its just the adrenalin from the "I do" day coming closer
I'd like to also recommend you don't pick up any lurgies - which is what I've gone and done, pah!
PS at first I wrote "adult weddings" :rotfl::o realised what that sounded like.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
KC you're absolutely right.
Why spend £30 when you can spend £3.99.
Ergh to lurgies.
Poor you.
